Job Summary

AECOM is hiring a Senior Microelectronics Engineer to support our customer onsite at NSWC Crane. This position will provide engineering, technical, and program management support to multiple Program Offices and customers.

Areas of support include: ASIC modeling, electronic component testing, microelectronic design, failure analysis of semiconductors, and Test development support for Trusted and Assured Microelectronics (T&AM) program elements.

Essential responsibilities include:

  • Transitioning conceptual electrical modeling requirements into proven product on multiple CAD EDA tools (Cadence, Mentor Graphics, etc).

  • Performing parameter extraction techniques and SPICE behavioral modeling techniques post radiation environments is the primary focus of this job.

  • Taking empirical data and convert into scalable models representing radiation effects; both static and transient models are required.

  • Electronic component testing for the various sponsors.

  • Support software engineering to design circuitry and/or provide recommendations for Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) tools to interface with the system.

  • Support the testing, electrical and physical characterization, and failure analysis of microelectronics and microelectronic assemblies, as well as research and development of new techniques and methods to assess trust and reliability of microelectronic systems. The devices and systems to be characterized are:

  • FPGAs

  • Advanced Non-Volatile Memory Packages

  • Solid State Drives

  • Custom Electronics Assemblies

  • State-of-the-Art microprocessors

  • Failure and material analysis support for microelectronics parts testing and possible test failures.

  • Test package development to support T&AM.

  • Hardware and software test design to manipulate and analyze automated test equipment (ATE).

  • Field programmable gate array (FPGA) and other microcircuit testing and analysis.

  • Testing, documentation, fixturing, and research and development.

  • Design, fabrication, soldering, and repair of test fixtures and boards for electronic component testing.

  • Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from project start to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.

  • Train other engineers on technical issues related to the research, design, development, testing and analysis of engineering assignments.

  • Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related scientific field and at least 10 years of job-related experience or equivalent.

  • Excellent communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.

  • Position may require occasional travel up to 25% of the time.

  • Position will require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

  • Understanding of EDA Tool Environments (PDK integration), SPICE and Derivatives, Model Types/Levels, and Macro-Modeling

  • Understanding of Parameter Extraction Tools & Techniques through use of COTS tools or development of in-house Parameter Extraction Tools
