Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking an

Department Manager - Municipal Water with 6 or more years of ENGINEERING experience to be located in the Southfield, MI office. The Project Manager will join our expanding Water Group. This position may include client management with municipal contracts. Projects including water system master plans, hydraulic distribution system modeling, water audits, water quality studies, disinfection, water supply sustainability, water systems design (water treatment plants, pump stations, etc.), energy evaluations, water main replacement analysis, water vulnerability and emergency response, and Safe Drinking Water Program audits.

Assignments will include various studies and designs associated with public drinking water systems and wastewater.

Project management responsibilities include project financial management, proposal preparation, managing project team members and ensuring that products are delivered on time, within agreed upon budgets and to the client’s satisfaction. This person will be responsible for quality control standard compliance and to ensure that project staff follow corporate safety guidelines. This person will manage several projects at any one time and will have project teams consisting of one to several staff. Project team members will include technical specialists that address the technical needs of the projects.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Supervisory, managerial, developmental and leadership skills to concurrently manage multiple projects, and technical staff.

  • Supervise the work of multiple technical disciplines with a broad general knowledge of many aspects of water / wastewater engineering for municipal market sectors.

  • Finds, pursues and wins long-term, opportunities by networking with clients as well as within the water / wastewater industry to develop business relationships

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent

  • 6+ years of experience in the evaluation, planning, design and construction of one or more of the following projects:

  • Water / Wastewater Treatment Plants, Pump Stations, Water, Sewer, Stormwater and/or Lift Stations

  • Experience with developing proposals, schedules, and budgets

  • Interest and demonstrated skills in marketing, presentations and client interaction

  • Professional Engineering License or the ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Municipal project experience

  • Professional Engineer’s license in Michigan
