Job Description:

Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS) in Fullerton, CA is seeking a qualified Systems Engineer to support the Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS) program. This is an early career engineering position for an individual with educational and/or professional experience in the development of solutions to GPS Navigation Systems. This individual will be required to run and test modeling and simulation of algorithmic models using Simulink and MATLAB. The work is highly technical and the individual must be comfortable with documenting equations, derivation and generation of plots in MATLAB. The individual must be comfortable with data and statistical analysis.

The successful candidate must be able to work on individual tasks under limited supervision, or with a teamto achieve operational targets and must have the ability to communicate and collaborate with parties within and outside of own job function. Eventually the candidate may be responsible for helping to provide guidance, coaching and training to other employees within their job area.

Required Skills:

  • 1 years’ experience working in a collaborative engineering environment (credit for experience will be considered with an advanced degree).
  • Proficiency in MATLAB; code optimization and numerical stability
  • Experience performing model driven design using Simulink and automatically generated code
  • Understanding of basic software development principles – configuration control, collaborative development, formal processes
  • Understanding of algorithm descriptions, mathematical expressions and derivations, matrix manipulations, outlier analysis, and system level analysis
  • Experience performing data analysis and problem solving (e.g. anomaly investigation)
  • Demonstrable skills in written and oral communication
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint
  • Ability to Obtain Secret clearance

Desired Skills:
  • Experience in the systems engineering discipline
  • Experience working well in teams and multi-tasking
  • Experience performing complex statistical analysis and/or mathematical modeling
  • Willingness to travel and do field work

Education Requirements:

Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience. Will allow advanced STEM education in lieu of professional experience.
