Job Description:
The Raytheon Precision Manufacturing (RPM) Calibration (Gage) Laboratory directly supports RPM facilities in producing, inspecting/testing, & delivering products to customers in a timely manner. The Gage Lab works collaboratively with RPM functions & Quality to ensure the appropriate gages and tools used in the acceptance of RPM provided products are calibrated, verified & available prior to use. We conduct factory oversight through gage/tool recall activities and floor calibrations of calibrated gages and tools, as required. We also coordinate externally performed calibrations and monitor the performance of suppliers of these external calibration services. Finally, The RPM Gage Lab supports RPM functions & Quality Engineering in the evaluating the impact for any “out of calibration” conditions.

This Gage Lab Technician position will provide calibration support within RPM.

Tasks include:

  • Calibration of the following tools: surface plates, microhites, indicators, micrometers, calipers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM)’s, check fixtures and other typical inspection devices (pins, gages, etc.).
  • Execution of Gage/Tooling recall,
  • Coordination of contract calibration services,
  • Support the cross-functional assessment process as related to “out of tolerance” gages/tools.

Required Skills:
  • Six (6) plus years of manufacturing experience
  • Strong verbal / written communications and interpersonal skills; ability to interact across multiple functions to ensure the effective calibration, recall, and “out of tolerance” evaluation of monitored gages/tools.
  • Must be knowledgeable of calibration requirements for the dimensional inspection tools (examples: surface plates, microhites, indicators, micrometers, calipers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM)’s, check fixtures and other typical inspection devices (pins, gages, etc.)).
  • Strong knowledge of print Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), drawing interpretation, and appropriate inspection processes/requirements.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes to include (2 of 3 required, with a strong preference given to candidates with bolded process knowledge)
    • Precision machining techniques, processes, & equipment,
    • Measurement & inspection techniques
    • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

Desired Skills:
  • Knowledge of Quality systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9102) and calibration standards (ANSI Z540)
  • Written, verbal and presentation skills for interaction at various levels of the organization
  • Exposure/minimal proficiency with Microsoft office suite software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
