This position is a multi-level position – a G06 Systems Engineer I or a G07 Systems Engineer II - based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience, and requirements for this position.

The candidate will be joining the Immersive Customer CONOPS Development Team which is responsible for providing Business Development with the ability to demonstrate Raytheon solutions with interactive and immersive experiences. The candidate will help develop and maintain interactive applications, simulations, and demonstrators for Raytheon products, which will be deployed across a wide variety of platforms, to include gaming machines, VR, AR, web, and mobile devices. The job will also include demonstrating and presenting the work to customers, both internal and external. The team works in an Agile environment to meet project deadlines and react to changing priorities. Candidate must be able to commit to and complete individual tasks as part of the larger development team.
This job requires a blend of programming skills, UI designer skills, strategic thinking, business acumen, technical flexibility, and curiosity. The successful candidate is one whom enjoys work on cutting-edge research in the field of AR/VR/XR and tinkering with emerging technologies on their own time.

Note: This position can be Salary Grade G06 (Systems Engineer I) or Salary Grade G07 (Systems Engineer II) based upon the applicant’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements of the position.

Job Duties

  • Design and develop applications, simulations, and scenarios in AR, VR, and XR
  • Develop Web applications for interactive tools
  • Stay current on the latest trends in AR/VR/XR and Web technologies
  • Research and prototype with the latest advances in AR/VR/XR technologies to determine their applicability to our team and Business Development
  • Support and engage at events, conferences, and demonstrations both local and remote

Minimum Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in engineering, computer science or software engineering
  • Proficient in one or more object oriented programming languages to include C++ / C#
  • Experience with the Unity game development environment
  • Experience troubleshooting complicated programming problems
  • Must have strong communication and presentation skills and be comfortable when presenting to senior leadership
  • Must have graduated with a B.S. in Engineering at least 18 months ago or more
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple and sometimes conflicting or ambiguous priorities in a team environment

Highly Desired Skills

  • Degree and/or Experience within Gaming
  • Experience developing Unity based AR/VR applications
  • Experience with web development libraries such as VueJS and NodeJS
  • Experience with augmented reality frameworks like Mixed Reality Toolkit, Android ARCore, and iOS ARKit
  • Experience with UI design theory
  • Experience with and fluent knowledge of OOP, design patterns, event delegates, asynchronous functions, data structures and algorithms
  • Experience with 3D graphics and shader programming
  • Experience programming network protocols communication (ex: UDP/TCP, HTTP, Bluetooth)
  • Experience with 3D modeling tools (ex: Maya, 3D Max, or Blender)
  • Experience working with animated and rigged 3D models in Unity
  • Travel requirement approximate 20%
  • Occasional off hours and after hours support
