The Sr. Field Engineer I will serve as an AN/TPY-2 Hardware Maintainer in support of the THAAD CLS Radar Team Lead. The selected candidate will ensure the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system is fully functional 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. This includes all states and modes of preventative & corrective maintenance, trouble-shooting, and repair of the radar. Assist the Radar Team Lead with independent assessments, audits, and special inspections of site activities associated with all Radar activity.
The Sr. Field Engineer I will assist the THAAD CLS Radar Team Lead with review of all ALCS program data to insure that all required data has been entered to include ITR’s, calibration records, PMCS, and other areas as required and contains sufficient information for Failure Review Board evaluations. The Sr. Field Engineer I will assist the Team Lead with scheduling and planning for installation of Change Notices Interfacing as needed with Engineering and site personnel to insure success and assist with maintaining all PMCS. The Sr. Field Engineer will assist in the establishment of RF Hazard/Keep-Out Zones (KOZs) with safety personnel and in the development and implementation of site-unique radiation procedures.
The selected candidate will also:
Provide input for operator proficiency testing and metrics to the Radar Team Lead.
Ensure PMCS activities as called out by ALCS are completed. Develop appropriate daily and weekly reports as required.
Attend and provide input to radar site related meetings as required (staff meetings, team meeting, engineering meetings, etc).
Act as Radar Team Lead in the absence of the Team Lead. Interface with the on-site customer and end user (U.S. Army Commander) as required.
This position will be located at Fort Bliss, Texas, but candidate must be prepared to deploy anywhere at a moment’s notice.
The selected candidate must possess and maintain an ACTIVE SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE.
The selected candidate must have a U.S. Driver’s License.
The selected candidate must possess and maintain a current United States Passport.
This position will remain in an unaccompanied deployable status.
The selected candidate must be willing and able to travel for related work assignments to include deployment to work locations at various sites both CONUS and OCONUS.
The selected candidate must maintain a deployable status as defined by the customer prior to and after deployment to assignment.
Must have attended and completed the AN/TPY-2 Common Core course and OJT.
Must be experienced and familiar with the tools and test equipment commonly used in electronic installation, maintenance and test.
Possess mechanical aptitude with tools and demonstrate an understanding of mechanical assemblies. Able to dis-assemble and assemble and understand the principles of mechanical failures.
Ability to be flexible with work assignments to include deployment to work locations at various yet to be determined sites both CONUS and OCONUS during various shifts.
At least three to four years’ experience in the troubleshooting and operational checkout of TPY-2 systems.
Coordinates, leads, and/or participates in the performance of corrective and preventive maintenance activities in order to sustain the THAAD Radar system.
Strong ability to identify required job orders, account for the actions in ALCS and see the task to completion.
Documented experience on DoD or Missile Defense Programs.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work in an extreme desert heat environment.
Logistics experience and ALCS knowledge.
Demonstrated excellence in past work performance.
Must possess excellent technical writing and oral communication skills.
Must be able to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
Must meet overseas medical deployment qualifications, when necessary.
Strong working knowledge of Unix, MatLab and MSOffice products
HVAC Systems maintenance and repair
Possess a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Certified Six Sigma Specialist
Bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of related experience.May substitute experience for education. (i.e., Associate’s degree in a technical field with 8 years relevant experience, no degree plus 12 years directly related experience.)
