AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Business Development Manager (BDM) – Energy Services for immediate employment in the Denver, CO area.
**Please note that this position can be primarily remote based but will require regular (bi-weekly) trips to the AECOM Greenwood Village, CO office.
This is a sales and business development role focused on energy retrofit, performance contracting, and Energy-As-A-Service project opportunities in the Mountain States of the US, with particular emphasis on Colorado.
Candidates will be responsible for the full sales cycle including lead generation, pursuit, preparing proposals and capture plans, and coordinating the start of projects for Performance Contracts and other energy services. Specific responsibilities include:
Developing relationships with new and existing AECOM clients
Cultivating those relationships and generating new leads that result in energy services and performance contracting opportunities
Identifying potential partnerships and alliances and negotiating agreements to support new business opportunities
Structuring and closing transactions by employing a customer-centric, consultative sales process
Managing senior-level relationships internally and externally
Operational responsibilities will include business and sales planning with Sales and Energy Business Line Leadership monthly, quarterly, and annually. This will involve developing and executing a plan to achieve revenue and margin goals.
Additionally, candidates will market and sell other related energy services to developers and traditional AECOM clients, working closely with Project Developers and technical staff to deliver desired results. Must have excellent client management skills.
This role requires knowledge of State Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) programs along with various other public and private contracting mechanisms. Success in this position will require a dynamic, self-motivated individual with high energy and an acute passion for developing large, complex energy retrofit projects in the MUSH markets using existing State legislation as well as UESC contract vehicles.
Critical requirements include teamwork skills, knowledge of the energy efficiency industries, strong business development skills, and the ability to develop high quality and creative opportunities in a fast-paced and ever-evolving industry.
Level specific responsibilities:
Plans, organizes and implements business development activities for an assigned market, geographic territory or region.
Manages and oversees business development staff.
Participates in decision-making.
Works independently to pursue development of new business prospects.
Assists in the development of proposals and gives presentations to potential clients.
Generally has business development and/or technical experience, may require hands-on cost proposal development.
BA/BS and 8 years of relevant experience including financial/performance contracting experience, sales, and marketing with an energy services or related organization, with responsibilities for identifying leads, closing sales, and providing client management to a project implementation team or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Very strong consulting and needs-based sales skills, ability to operate in a technical complex market and long sales cycle.
Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, goal-oriented, hands on, team building, management skills.
Skilled in preparing presentations for sales meetings, have strong leadership and organization skills and have a passion for excellence and driven to succeed

Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, management, or business administration subjects strongly preferred
Leadership experience preferred
MBA is preferred
10+ years of performance contracting experience is preferred
Knowledge of building infrastructure systems and energy analysis, familiarity with large energy retrofit projects sold under ESPC Contracts, knowledge of ESPC legislation in the identified Region and generally informed about trends and legislation related to
