Master Mechanic

This position exists to perform skilled mechanical work/services and repairs of all military equipment as defined within this job description. Works under general supervision. Requires specialized experience in diesel and automotive repair and maintenance. Heavy Wheel Mechanics will diagnose and repair all equipment in accordance with standard service practices. Work assignments are accompanied by work orders and oral instructions describing the problems and how-to proceed. Repairs and maintains a variety of equipment which will includes: Tactical vehicles and Heavy Equipment such as, M1151, HMMV, M1070 HETTS, Tractors Trailer; K forklift, 40 ton Crane, RTCH, or heavy equipment such as: pumps, compressors, pneumatic tools and Hydraulics. Installs specified new or reconditioned parts and/or makes required adjustments and reassembles complete unit. Disassembles engines and mechanical units to inspect parts and operating defects. Executes required preventive maintenance procedures. Performs inspections required by the company or government. Promotes safety awareness and complies with all applicable safety procedures and regulations.

Preferred knowledge is typically acquired through 5 to 7 years of on the job training or a minimum of Four (4) years (63B MOS Series) which has change over to a 91 Series MOS military experience. Through knowledge of Army technical publications related to military equipment and in troubleshooting and repair of; light and heavy wheeled vehicles and related equipment. Ability to research and order parts utilizing the following automation FEDLOG, WEBVLIPS and ILAP; able to complete all forms and documentation required to process a vehicle through Field Maintenance. Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point) Able to communicate orally and written (Email) fluently.

Additional requirements:

  • Must be fluent in English
  • Must possess passport book with at least 15 months of remaining validity AND with at least 6 blank visa/stamp pages remaining
  • Must possess driver’s license with at least 6 months of remaining validity
  • Must have or be able to obtain a NAC-I
  • Must be able to obtain a Polish visa
