Job Summary

The Chief Operating Officer - West Region will build the organizational capabilities needed to deliver business results and sustain high performance within the region. This role will provide hands-on dynamic leadership to the organization and focus on executing the company vision.

As a proven change agent, this role will build on AECOM’s impressive track record and make the organization even more effective. This role will guide implementation of projects/services, ensure client satisfaction, contribute to growth opportunities, and provide leadership on operational excellence and management.

The Chief Operating Officer - West Region is a leader who motivates and inspires employees at all levels, creating a truly team-oriented culture. Expectations, responsibilities, and skills required of this role:

  • Collaborate to set growth strategy and build a culture of common purpose and shared values

  • Set operational goals and metrics (KPIs) to meet or exceed performance expectations

  • Ensure that operational activities are executed within allotted budget and timelines

  • Validate budget allocation and expense management for all business operational activities

  • Provide excellent client service in order to build and maintain strong relationships

  • Ensure client issues/complaints are handled and resolved accurately and quickly

  • Develop and implement plans to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency

  • Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the operations teams

  • Provide guidance to staff in resolving operational issues, updates, ideas and problems

  • Promote a culture of high-performance that values learning and a commitment to quality

  • Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development

  • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach

  • Assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and evaluate results

  • Conduct annual performance reviews and administer salary adjustments

  • Conduct regular operational reviews and audits ensuring highest quality care delivery

  • Upgrade and implement a system of policies, internal controls, standards, and procedures

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Fifteen or more years of experience in operational leadership

  • Proven track record of leadership in progressive assignments and operational management ability

  • Broad range of knowledge and experience in all areas of operations and project delivery

  • Strong negotiations skills and a solid understanding of contracting, risk and claims management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Operational leadership experience within the EPC / AEC industry highly preferred

  • MBA
