Job Summary

AECOM's is currently seeking an Environmental Technician to conduct groundwater sampling and support other environmental field services work including soil, soil vapor, sediment, surface water, and groundwater sampling, as well as operations and maintenance of treatment systems.

The selected candidate(s) should be self-motivated, able to follow through with assignments with minimal direction, and demonstrate a high degree of health and safety awareness. The selected candidate should be able to learn and operate various sampling equipment in the field, and maintain such equipment in good working order.

Major work efforts will include the following field tasks:

  • Site supervising,

  • Groundwater gauging and oversight,

  • Groundwater sampling and oversight,

  • Extraction well sampling,

  • Low-flow and standard purge sampling methods,

  • Calibrating and using monitoring equipment,

  • Rehabilitating and maintaining well vaults,

  • Reporting incidents, near misses, positive interventions, and hazard recognitions,

  • Assist geologists and engineers in the field as needed.

  • Participate in daily safety briefings.

  • Administrative daily field logs and reporting.

The selected candidate should be able to learn and operate various sampling equipment in the field.

Other work items may include support for the construction, operation and maintenance of multiple environmental remediation systems including vapor extraction, free product, groundwater recovery and groundwater treatment.

Candidate must have ability to work independently with minimal supervision, but could be teamed with another staff.

The project assignment will be in Carson, CA

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted

  • Ability to perform field work in all weather conditions

  • Candidates may need to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening depending on client safety requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to problem solve and fix mechanical problems in the field

  • Knowledge of data collection and tabulation in support of scientific document production

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
