Job Summary

We are currently seeking an Accounting Clerk to support our office located in Germantown, MD. This individual will perform diversified general accounting duties requiring knowledge of bookkeeping practices in assigned segment(s) of accounting, working in accordance with prescribed procedures and accepted accounting practices. Duties involve knowledge of computer software applications. Duties are performed with a minimum of supervision.

Responsibilities include:

  • Process weekly labor and labor adjustments.

  • Reconcile payroll gross to net.

  • Analyze and interpret company policies and procedures and federal and state regulations affecting payroll operations.

  • Conduct audits of timesheets and identify and implement corrective action.

  • Communicate with field personnel on payroll issues.

  • Apply learned knowledge of practices and procedures to deal with issues or problems that require further definition before resolution.

  • Review to ensure accurate computation of pay and interpret company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures.

  • Apply knowledge of payroll practices to perform various audits for different state agencies and/ or in house auditors.

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested

Minimum Requirements

  • US Citizen

  • High School diploma with commercial/general background

  • At least 5 years of job related experience or equivalent

  • Good oral and written communication skills

  • Working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications

  • Organizational skills

  • Ability to perform detail-oriented work

  • Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance
