Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a creative, highly talented Electrical Engineer to be based in our Greenwood Village, CO (Denver) location supporting our Energy / Oil and Gas project team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Under minimal direction, completes engineering assignments of moderate complexity.

  • Comprehensive understanding of Electrical discipline and basic understanding of other disciplines.

  • Prepares electrical drawings such as one-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams as well as electrical lists such as equipment lists, load lists and cable schedules.

  • Prepares specifications, data sheets, RFQs, and technical bid summaries for electrical equipment.

  • Performs electrical equipment and cable sizing calculations.

  • Performs power system studies and analysis such as load flow, short circuit, breaker and relay coordination and arc flash and produces associated written reports.

  • Designs and specifies components for electrical distribution and utilization systems.

  • Reviews vendor drawings and provides comments as necessary.

  • Responsible for engineering and design activities including working directly with other engineers and design drafters to produce engineering documents and designs for various industry related facilities.

  • Assists in the coordination between engineering disciplines, participating in project planning activities, and supports cost and schedule updates.

  • Ensures quality, quantity and completeness of the assigned engineering tasks.

  • Keeps proper engineering files and records.

  • Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training.

  • Complies with company’s safety awareness program, office and/or field safety policies.

  • Develops an understanding of the role of each functional area within the company.

  • Conforms to company core values.

  • Acts with integrity in all elements of responsibility.

  • Expresses ideas clearly and listens effectively to the ideas of others.

  • Supports alignment of customer and company objectives.

  • Performs other related engineering work as required.

Job Summary

  • Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results.

  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.

Minimum Requirements

Electrical Engineer II

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from a 4 (four) year accredited college or university program or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

AND

  • 2 years of electrical engineering experience, involving the engineering and design of electrical systems of moderate complexity for industrial plant design facilities.

  • Previous experience preparing and checking electrical drawings and lists.

  • Previous experience performing engineering calculations, preparing specifications and data sheets, performing analyses and maintaining related data.

  • Previous experience preparing electrical deliverables such as one-line diagrams, schematics and wiring diagrams, equipment lists, load lists and cable schedules.

  • Experience utilizing standards applicable to industrial facilities including the National Electrical Code.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.

OR

Electrical Engineer III

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from a 4 (four) year accredited college or university program or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

AND

  • 4 years of electrical engineering experience, involving the engineering and design of electrical systems of moderate complexity for industrial plant design facilities.

  • Previous experience preparing and checking electrical drawings and lists.

  • Previous experience performing engineering calculations, preparing specifications and data sheets, performing analyses and maintaining related data.

  • Previous experience preparing electrical deliverables such as one-line diagrams, schematics and wiring diagrams, equipment lists, load lists and cable schedules.

  • Experience utilizing standards applicable to industrial facilities including the National Electrical Code.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • EIT/FE and/or Registration as a Professional Engineer or ability to obtain within 1-2 years of hire.

  • Previous experience performing electrical studies and analysis, using SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or similar power system design software.

  • Electrical engineering experience, involving the engineering and design of electrical systems, for the oil and gas industry.

  • Previous Upstream and/or Midstream Oil & Gas experience.

  • Knowledgeable in Hazardous Area Classification of Class 1 locations related to the oil and gas industry.
