KBR in Australia has been involved in working with Defence for the last 20 years, and has developed a core competency in systems engineering, systems and enterprise architecture, project management, training solutions and integrated logistic support and provides this expertise to support a wide range Defence projects and clients.

The Role

KBR is currently seeking applications from experienced and enthusiastic individuals looking to further their career in the learning and development industry. This is an permanent position, located in Canberra

As a Training Developer, you will identify client needs by undertaking needs analysis, and from that, design and develop interventions that produce viable outcomes from client concepts. To do this, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a dynamic team in the design and development client Learning Management Packages (LMP).

This is a challenging role, which will require you to be an autonomous, high-performing self-starter, who offers well established training development experience and skills. Working to strict timelines, you will need to rapidly integrate into the existing team and start producing high quality products in a short period of time.

Responsibilities

To be successful in this role, you will be able to:

  • conduct analysis to determine the needs of the client and project requirements;
  • consult with key stakeholders, and utilise subject matter expertise to develop LMPs;
  • plan and execute the design and/or development of a complete LMP across multiple delivery methods (eLearning, instructor led etc.), in accordance with project and stakeholder requirements;
  • manage content and/or document review cycles with stakeholders and subject matter experts;
  • conduct quality assurance reviews;
  • coordinate and facilitate meetings and/or workshops with clients and subject matter experts; and
  • liaise with clients to ensure deliverables meet their needs and are fit for purpose.

Requirements

To be selected for interview, candidates must have Australian Citizenship and hold, or be able to obtain, an Australian Defence security clearance.

Other requirements you will of this role are:

  • a well-developed knowledge of adult learning theories and principles in the context of capability development;
  • experience in the application of SADL processes and procedures, in the context of capability development within the Australian Defence environment;
  • experience in developing all sections of Defence LMPs;
  • strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work autonomously with multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams;
  • well-developed verbal and non-verbal communication skills; and
  • a demonstrated high level of negotiating and problem solving skills.

Desirable Skills

Candidates with the following qualities will be viewed favorably:

  • vocational or tertiary qualifications in adult education, L&D or similar fields;
  • experience working with/in government and/or Defence; or
  • an awareness of current blended learning components; such as part-task trainers, simulators and virtual training devices.
