This position is based in Pascagoula, MS Job Duties and Responsibilities: As a Sr. Technical Field Support Engineer and a member on the LPD Construction and Shipboard Test Team, you will play a key role in assuring the operational effectiveness of the entire Raytheon and related Government supplied electronic systems suite for the San Antonio Class of Amphibious Warfare ships (LPD-17).
Scope of Work: The scope of work includes integration, retrofit, preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance (repair/recovery), and testing for Raytheon and related Government supplied systems onboard the LPD-17 platform.
Raytheon provided systems include the following:
Navigation Data Distribution System (NDDS)
Hull, Mechanical & Electrical and Navigation Networks
Related Government provided systems include the following:
Engineering Control System (ECS)
Hierarchical Yet Dynamically Reprogrammable Architecture (HYDRA) SYSTEM
Integrated Voice Network (IVN)
Magnetic Signature Control System (MSCS)
Navigation and Timing System
Steering Control System (SCS)
Representative tasks include:
Analyzing hardware and software equipment failures to determine cause.
Electronic equipment troubleshooting and repair.
Providing assistance, or advice, on implementing preventative maintenance programs.
Maintaining equipment status records.
This position will also require some participation (equipment start-up, loading software, etc.) in the shipboard equipment installation phase.
Support various trials onboard LPD17 class ships (ie. Builders and Acceptance Trials)
Work Environment The work will be performed mostly on board a naval vessel under construction and during trial periods at sea. Prior experience working in this environment is desirable.
Physical requirements include:
MUST wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Work in confined spaces
Work in arduous climates
Work in high places
Ability to lift and carry 35 lbs.
Ability to work in an industrial environment
Ability to travel, up to 15%.
Able to live and work for short periods at sea onboard a US Navy vessel
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only US Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
6+ years of experience in one or more of the above listed systems.
Experience operating, test and troubleshoot complex military electronic systems
Experience analyzing equipment failures to determine cause and perform corrective actions.
Technical support experience with electronic navigation and/or network communication systems
Must be willing and able to work in the prescribed working environment
US Citizenship is required
Subject Matter Expertise on one or more of the above listed systems
Experience with operation of US Navy shipboard electronics systems
Experience working aboard a San Antonio Class ship (LPD-17)
Ability to communicate well and to maintain calm under pressure. (This position requires frequent interaction with the customer)
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
Ability to perform the normal climbing and lifting associated with shipboard electronic type work
Experience working in the ship construction environment.
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree, or 8 years of related experience, specialized military training and certifications, and formal education (two years related work experience can substitute for one year of education).
