This position is for the Advanced Mission Systems (AMS) Future Advanced Systems and Technology (FAST) Analysis and Architecture Chief Engineer within the Advanced Concepts and Technologies (ACT) Mission Area of Raytheon’s Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) business. The FAST AACE will lead a growing dynamic technical team charged with the entire Systems Engineering process associated with tactical implementation of integrated sensor suites in the future Highly Contested (Air / Ground) Threat Environment (HCTE). Program tasks include:

  • Employing robust Operations Analysis to determine subsystem requirements across the suite of multispectral sensors
  • Developing an open system architecture that enables advanced sensors in a force multiplying manner (i.e. networked, low-latency, high-accuracy, multispectral, multi-domain)
  • Prototyping the architecture in a System Integration Lab
  • Maintaining close coordination with Advanced RF and Advanced EOIR programs in order to help shape ongoing efforts to support an integrated AMS application
  • Designing, fabricating and testing of targeted Raytheon Advanced RF and EOIR subsystems to support / demonstrate advanced system capabilities required to win the future fight in the HCTE.
The FAST AACE will support the FAST CE in managing the engineering activities across these program tasks by providing engineering input to all decisions impacting OA and system architecture to ensure FAST portfolio products meet all technical / operational requirements and customer expectations.
The FAST AACE will provide technical leadership of peer groups and technical mentoring to program engineers while working closely with the FAST CE as the interface between program management and engineering to ensure a high level of team performance and cohesiveness. The FAST AACE will also work closely with customer program management and engineering, facilitating communication between all of the team members.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in Radar, Electronic Warfare, EOIR and/or Comm programs
  • Experience as a Chief Engineer on a large program, or another role providing technical leadership to a large engineering team
  • Experience providing technical leadership throughout the entire product life cycle
  • Experience with identifying critical staffing resources to ensure staffing plans to address technical development areas
  • Experience with developing and presenting technical briefings to the customer and company leadership
  • Ability to effectively lead teams of technical experts to resolve challenging technical problems
  • Experience providing engineering inputs for execution plans and Estimates at Completion (EAC)
  • Experience identifying and providing engineering resources needed to get required engineering work product requirements done (people, processes, facilities & tools)
  • US Citizenship is required as this positions needs an Active U.S. DoD Secret Clearance with a security background investigation within the last 5.5 years at of day one of employment
  • Ability to obtain access to Special Access Programs (SAP/SAR)

Desired Skills:
  • Proposal management, from initial pursuit and capture planning to proposal delivery
  • Experience in technology strategy planning
  • Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) or line engineering management experience
  • Experience with the technical review and approval of proposals and Gates to ensure technical and execution feasibility
  • Experience in new business development for advanced technology, including direct customer interface and a familiarity with the DoD Science and Technology community

Required Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Math, Physics or related degree; advanced degree(s) strongly preferred
