Job Description:

The High Energy Laser (HEL) Group is seeking a Systems Engineering (SE) Integration and Test Lead who will be responsible for planning and executing the Integration Verification & Validation (IV&V) content on critical engineering programs within cost and schedule requirements. This includes ensuring that the delivered products and systems functions as designed and comply with all requirements, and that all resources required to perform the IV&V tasks are ready and in place when needed. This role spans from planning activities through system delivery or test demonstration. The SE participates in concept definition and program planning to arrive at a solution that meets the customer's cost, schedule, and performance requirements.

The Integration and Test Lead provides guidance and direction to a large team that includes engineers and subcontractors that are required to ensure successful execution of the IV&V plan. This leader will work with this team to:

  • Manage project cost and schedule, report periodic earned value and provide quarterly EACs to the program office and functional leadership team
  • Develop detailed test procedures based on the test plans, test requirements, final product design, and the specific test assets to be used
  • Develop test equipment requirements and define test configurations, interfaces, and special fixtures necessary to meet the test requirements
  • Verify that the configurations of the system under test, test assets, test procedures, and reduction/analysis tools are documented and captured
  • Ensure that all tests are completed in accordance with the contract, test procedures, standard processes, and applicable regulations
  • Provide overall management of program activities and budgets, including contract, capital, and NBR for equipment, facilities, assembly, integration, and test verification
  • Communicate test results to management, customer test representatives, and the rest of the engineering team
  • Conduct test readiness reviews (TRR) to review and document configurations, verify readiness, and approve the start of formal testing
  • Facilitate review of test results and anomalies
  • In addition, the Systems Engineering I&T Lead will coordinate and collaborate with the Program Chief Engineer to ensure that a system verification plan is executed and that all resources are available to perform the system verification tasks

Required Skills:
  • Minimum 8 years of engineering work experience
  • Experience with Electro-Optical or directed energy weapon system assembly, integration, and test
  • Demonstrated successful participation on multi-disciplinary engineering teams with the ability to lead small engineering team
  • Willingness to travel periodically in support of offsite testing along with customer and subcontractor meetings
  • Strong technical writing and oral communication skills
  • Strong collaboration / teaming skills
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment. Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance, with a recent (<= 6 years) investigation
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to access to US only data systems
Desired Skills:
  • Advanced Degree in Engineering
  • Proven experience of managing a small IV&V team of diverse engineers working under tight program constraints
  • Experience with successful integration, laboratory test, platform installation, and test demonstration of a high energy laser system, subsystems or major components
  • Experience analyzing sensor requirements for development of qualification test plans.
  • Experience with EO/IR laboratory and factory test systems development.
  • EVMS Certified
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Required Education (including Major):
  • B.S. in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Physics or other related field
