Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS) is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer I with an in depth knowledge of phased array radar operations and management to work at the Cobra Dane radar system located in Shemya, Alaska. This is a remote assignment in Shemya, Alaska with a rotation of approximately 8 weeks on island and 5 weeks off island.
This is a key position on the Cobra Dane radar contract and is responsible for providing technical information in support of the solving sparing and obsolescence issues. This knowledge will provide the base for new designs and development of electronic or
electromechanical equipment or systems-oriented products. This position will prepare related installation, operation, and maintenance specifications and instructions, analyze equipment to establish operating data and conduct experimental tests. This position will
also analyze engineering proposals and related technical data to determine feasibility of assigning new equipment or modifying existing equipment. This position requires specific Cobra Dane experience and an in-depth knowledge of the Cobra Dane radar system that includes the USAF Technical Orders, original microfiche files, and system drawings/schematics. The successful candidate will apply advanced technical knowledge to solve radar problems by interpreting manufacturer’s manuals, USAF Technical Orders, local operating instructions, and similar documents. Work requires a strong knowledge of the interrelationships of phased array radar circuits and judgment in planning work sequence, selecting tools, testing instruments, and is reviewed for compliance with accepted practices.
This position provides technical guidance to the Service Contract Technicians performing transmitter, computer, and radar operations. Typical duties include: Perform
operation and maintenance of transmitter control console; maintain array face antenna elements; maintain splitter/shifter driver packages and divider/combiners; repair receiver protectors, Low Noise Amplifier Assemblies (LNAAs), and monopulse comparators; maintain transmitter beam forming networks, high power Traveling Wave Tubes (TWTs), regulated and unregulated power supplies, radar modulators, built-in test equipment, transmitter ancillary equipment, and pulse circuits; perform RF measurements; maintain inspection, maintenance, and repair records; and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Required Education (including Major): B.S./B.A. in Engineering, Science, or Math with at least 4 years’ experience, May substitute experience for education ( i.e., Associate's degree in technical field with 8 years relevant experience, no degree plus 12 years directly related experience.)
