Job Summary

  • Conduct air permitting (New Source Review, Title V, Standard Permits, Permits by Rule, and renewal permits) including strategy development and regulatory review and compliance at state and federal level)

  • Perform annual emission inventory reporting (Emissions Inventory, Toxic Release Inventory, GHG reporting rule)

  • Conduct review of industrial facilities to evaluate compliance with permit conditions and applicable regulations

  • Interact with state regulatory agencies on the behalf of clients

  • Track overall financial performance of task assignment; this will include coordinating with the Project Manager to monitor sold time and work backlog on task

  • Assist Project Managers with the quality of deliverables, schedule, budget, and communication with client

  • Develop and evaluate project plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others

  • Perform as a staff advisor and consultant as to technical specialty, a type of facility, industry, equipment or program function

  • Conduct technical peer reviews and makes technical presentations

  • Support the preparation of proposals and can generate proposals under senior guidance

  • Actively involved with clients and business development

  • Provide support and direction to more junior-level employees on routine assignments

  • Delegate work to, mentors, trains and supervises less experienced staff to complete assignments

  • Collect and analyze data to create dispersion models to evaluate air quality impacts

  • Continually develop technical knowledge and capabilities in the air quality area as well as multi-media

  • Make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work

  • Carry out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures

  • Requires general familiarity within a broad field of scientific knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines/fields

  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to evaluate compliance

  • Work under only general direction. Independently determine and develops approach to solutions.

  • Solves problems by use of combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments

  • Participates in planning required to achieve prescribed objectives

  • Conducts analysis and investigation work obtained from a variety of sources

  • Participates in developing corrective measures and procedures

  • Formulates hypothesis, performs research and makes recommendation

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, or related field

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience in air quality consulting including (New Source Review and Title V permitting, Permits By Rules, renewal permitting, air dispersion modeling, and environmental compliance)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of state and federal environmental regulatory framework and processes

  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written - to impart technical information and interact with clients and regulatory personnel

  • Ability to work in team environment including managing and mentoring junior staff

  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position are required to pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
