AECOM is actively seeking an experienced and highly talented Senior ITS/Traffic Engineer for immediate employment in one of our Mississippi offices located in Jackson. AECOM’s local and national network of talented professionals supports a wide-range of public and private sector clients and project types. This position will be part of a talented team of experts providing professional services across business lines including the planning, design, construction phase support, integration, operations and maintenance of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), traffic signal systems, connected/automated vehicle platforms, and various other advanced transportation technology systems.
Serving as an AECOM project manager for ITS and traffic engineering contracts, upon obtaining AECOM certification
Developing plans, specifications, estimates and other project deliverables
Adapting and evolving team capabilities to meet changes in client needs, markets, and technologies
Business development including building new client relationships, writing proposals and securing project work
Working individually, or as a team, on several local, state, national and global projects of significance
Writing a variety of technical reports and conducting presentations
Projects may involve:
Connected/Automated Vehicles and Applications
Freeway ITS, Active Travel Management Systems, Advanced Arterial Traffic Signal Systems, and Transportation Operation Centers
Systems Engineering Analyses (Concepts, Requirements, Specifications, Design, Testing and Verification)
Transportation studies including corridors, interchanges, signal system operations, site development and safety analyses
Standalone design projects ranging including traffic signal systems and ITS deployments
Public agency support service contracts providing a wide range of ITS/traffic engineering services
Microstation, AutoCAD, Traffic Modeling, Economic Analysis and GIS modeling
Additional responsibilities may include:
Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team
Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.
Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.
Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
Prepares technical specification sections.
Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
Additional job responsibilities include:
Local expert on providing technical leadership in a specialty area, often for a district.
Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in programs and applications.
Interprets, organizes, executes and coordinates assignments.
Makes decisions independently on technical problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work.
Applies advanced or state-of-the-art knowledge and experience to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions. The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work usually results from progressive experience.
Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
10+ years of experience
PE license in Mississippi
Experience managing a team of engineers
