Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly-talented Senior Air Quality Scientist or Engineer for immediate employment in one of our Denver, CO, Fort Collins, CO, or Salt Lake City, UT offices. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Air Quality Permitting and Compliance. The successful candidate will support a variety of compliance related projects ranging from air quality permitting, greenhouse gas reporting, air regulatory analysis, and compliance auditing. The candidate will also participate in and/or lead business development efforts for air quality-related work. Experience with air quality-related projects at oil and gas facilities and other industrial facilities is desired. Writing skills and strong attention to quality assurance/quality control are critical.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting or leading environmental compliance audits

  • Preparing or reviewing air emission inventories

  • Preparing or reviewing air permit application and/or compliance packages

  • Developing air permitting strategy

  • Reviewing state and federal air quality regulatory regulations

  • Managing air quality permitting and compliance projects

  • Preparing proposals and cost estimates

  • Working closely with clients to develop strategies that will aid the client in maintaining compliance and operational flexibility while meeting client’s expectations related to scope, budget, schedule and quality

  • Developing and mentoring of junior and mid-level staff members; this will be accomplished with an active role in supporting general technical growth by providing constructive oversight and challenging tasks

  • Contributing to business development and business strategy efforts

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental, civil, or chemical engineering or related science or engineering discipline

  • 12+ years of air quality permitting experience

  • Experience interpreting and implementing State and Federal air regulations

  • Must have strong oral presentation skills, strong written communication skills, and strong math and computer skills

  • Ability to work well in teams and get along with coworkers

  • Ability to manage and mentor junior staff remotely and in-person

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of air permitting regulations, especially in western U.S. states

  • Project manager experience

  • Commitment to quality and attention to detail

  • Major and Minor New Source Review and RACT/BACT/LAER

  • NSPS and NESHAP, as applicable, to various industry sources

  • Title V air quality permitting

  • Established relationships with oil & gas and other industrial/commercial industries
