Summary of Role:

The Graduate Mechanical Systems Design Engineer will be responsible for the development of system installations and modifications to air platforms in support of Raytheon UK’s Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR) business. The successful candidate will be part of the Mechanical Engineering team and report to the Principal Mechanical Systems Engineer.

The successful candidate will also be part of the growing Airborne ISR team that delivers aviation engineering expertise across a wide range of projects to both military and civil customers worldwide.

Main Duties:

The role offers an exciting challenge in supporting Raytheon UK’s Airborne ISR programmes with responsibilities for:

  • Developing mechanical design solutions to meet new and existing Customer requirements.
  • Developing structural and mechanical design modifications in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting the verification of structural solutions.
  • Liaising with equipment and aircraft Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to identify and develop effective interfaces between system equipment and the airframe.
  • Supporting formal internal and external customer reviews.
  • Ensuring that engineering activities are conducted in accordance with Raytheon UK’s site and Company policies.
Graduate Leadership Development Programme Training:
During the first 2 years, in addition to your main role, you’ll be assigned various modules to support your career development. These range from business skills to team building activities.


Candidate Requirements

Essential:
  • 2:1 degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering
  • Pre university qualifications equivalent to 120 UCAS points new system or 300 UCAS points old system
  • Ability to relocate to different UK sites and relocate during the role if required
  • Good academic background in relevant subjects.
  • Ability to travel to different UK sites.
  • A good understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles.
  • Ability to perform structural analysis of complex structures.
  • Able to communicate technical detail in verbal, written and presentational forms.
  • A logical problem solver who can operate effectively under stretching project constraints.
  • Able to manage and work within agreed timescales.
  • Able to use initiative to improve team process and performance.
Desirable:
  • Experience in Aircraft Mechanical Systems.
  • Understanding of aircraft certification basis.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows based software.
  • Flexibility to travel within UK and abroad to support meetings.
