Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Transportation Project Manager to join our Raleigh, NC office.

Qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in the transportation highway and bridge industry and have a successful track record with North Carolina highway design projects.

This is an exceptional opportunity to be involved with all levels of transportation projects for our clients, such as NCDOT, counties, and municipalities of North Carolina.

The applicant will have demonstrated experience in leading highway design projects and executing major projects. The objective of the position is to develop and execute work required to deliver client programs within established and agreed budgets and schedules, thereby expanding AECOM’s reputation as the preferred roadway design/planning service consultant in the industry.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with the local area Business Line Leader and Senior Management on development and execution of significant project pursuits and delivery

  • Establish relationships with both external and internal clients and customers, including industry associations and other potential consultant team members and construction contractors

  • Be a visible leader and trusted advisor to clients by promoting AECOM’s values both internally and externally

  • Demonstrated expertise in the area of managing and preparing transportation project teams.

  • Proven track record with large client account management, project pursuits, and engineering/planning staff development

  • A desire to work with external contractors/consultants, AECOM’s other divisions/regions and interact directly with major clients (NCDOT, Municipal and others)

Minimum Requirements:

  • The candidate must be a PE or AICP with over 20 years' experience in engineering or transportation planning with project management experience.

  • BSCE required in Civil Engineering or BS/MS in Planning

  • NC PE or ability to obtain through reciprocity in 3 months or AICP required.

  • North Carolina NCDOT experience

  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in civil engineering (roadway design, signing, pavement marking, and or other areas) or transportation planning.

  • Thorough understanding of NCDOT guidelines/procedures/plan preparation; or NEPA/Planning process with NCDOT

  • Ability to scope/estimate complex projects

  • Track and manage task budgets and schedule experience

  • Supervise/mentor entry-level/junior engineers, designers, and planners.

  • Demonstrate leadership skills and communication skills requiring client interaction

  • Ability to work with various multi-disciplined teams is essential to this role

  • Provide in-depth Quality Control and Quality Assurance for design/project management/program management. QA and QC of Planning projects will also be considered.

Minimum Requirements

  • BSCE required in Civil Engineering or BS/MS in Planning or related degree

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in civil engineering (roadway design, signing, pavement marking, and or other areas) or transportation planning

  • Thorough understanding of NCDOT guidelines/procedures/plan preparation; or NEPA/Planning process with NCDOT

  • Track and manage task budgets and schedule experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE or AICP with 15 years' experience in engineering or transportation planning with project management experience.
