Job Summary

The Design Services Consulting Group (DCS) of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented, self-motivated environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance professional for immediate hire in the Long Beach or Orange County, CA office.

The appropriate qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an understanding of EHS compliance, Cal-OSHA safety standards, environmental field sampling, relevant EHS permit package preparation, client interaction, report preparation, excellent client/peer communication skills and agency interaction. This position has a great potential for career growth. The successful candidate will be part of a diverse team of engineers and scientists that are responsible for EHS compliance, reporting, permitting, safety compliance and environmental field sampling/monitoring in Southern California.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors in Civil or Environmental engineering with demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.

  • 2+ years of professional experience in environmental, health and safety compliance/permitting related to private (commercial, industrial, power, oil/gas, rail and manufacturing) and public sector clients.

  • Ability to travel overnight

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in computer-based databases and ability to quickly learn and implement online environmental compliance reporting systems

  • Experience in environmental sampling and hazardous waste is a plus

  • OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER training

  • Experience with California and Federal environmental regulations

  • Familiar with Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC), Resource Recovery Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Hazardous Materials Business Plans (HMBP), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Clean Air Act (CAA), Storm water and UST/AST Systems

  • Interact with clients on project tasks in a professional and highly competent manner

  • Experience in multi-media auditing and compliance is a plus

  • Experience in Environmental Due Diligence Phase I audits is a plus
