Raytheon Intelligence Information and Services is seeking a Software Engineering Intern based out of Riverdale, MD to support NASA's EOSDIS Evolution and Development 2 (EED-2) program, which involves the maintenance and evolution of the EOSDIS ECS, CMR, Earthdata, and NGAP systems - key components of NASA's Earth Science mission. These systems run on a Linux platform and are implemented largely in Java, Ruby and C++. The ideal candidate will be a highly enthusiastic team member excited about learning new technologies and continually evolving an operational system. In this position the intern will have the opportunity to have hands-on development of new system capabilities supporting climate research.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Proficiency in Java or Ruby in a Linux or UNIX development environment
Good communication skills and ability to work in a structured team environment with other software engineers
Team player with positive attitude
This position requires the ability to access systems that contain information restricted to US Citizens based on certain Federal Government contractual requirements.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Experience with shell scripting, Perl, C++, and Ruby on Rails
Experience with database applications such as PostgreSQL and Oracle
GPA of 3.0+
Required Education (including Major): Candidate must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in the area of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics or a closely related field. A GPA of 3.0+ is highly desired. Please include your transcript with your resume. You must have obtained sophomore, junior, senior status as of Summer 2020.
This position can be for a Sophomore, Junior or Senior Internship based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
ST02 (TechStudent-Sophomore) Sophomore status – must have completed 30 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained Sophomore status as of Summer 2020. ST03 (TechStudent-Junior) Junior status – must have completed 60 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained Junior status as of Summer 2020. ST04 (TechStudent-Senior) Senior status – must have completed 90 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained Senior status as of Summer 2020.
