Aerospace Engineers (Physics or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering majors with relevant Aerospace coursework may also apply) graduating in Dec 2021 / May 2022 are invited to apply for this exciting internship opportunity. Raytheon is seeking candidates for Satellite Operations and Maintenance (O&M) positions. The selected candidate(s) will join a skilled O&M team working in a 24/7 operations environment. The O&M team is responsible for all aspects of Operations Planning, Command and Control, and Vehicle Engineering, including monitoring day-to-day activities as well as identifying and solving challenging problems as they occur. The selected candidate(s) will be assigned to a team, and will train alongside full-time Engineers executing the satellite O&M mission for our customers. The candidate will complete an O&M certification (Operations, Planning, Vehicle Engineering, etc.), and/or be assigned a formal project in support of our team. Projects could include software scripting, development of O&M training materials, creating orbital mechanics visualizations, comprehensive software testing, etc.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities may include:
•Build and/or execute a daily operations plan using complex software and hardware systems
•Learn and assist in execution of real-time command and control activities, and monitor satellite and ground system telemetry
•Plan and execute system calibrations and analyze results
•Support operations and test activities
•Document discrepancies as they occur & implement workarounds and contingency plans to minimize impacts of system anomalies
•Other duties as assigned

Security Clearance and other Requirements:
•Qualified applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the requirements to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI government security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
•The selected candidate(s) onboarding is contingent upon obtaining a TS/SCI Security Clearance with CI Poly prior to starting employment (sponsored through Raytheon)

Work Schedule
•This internship is planned to be for the summer of 2021. However, part-time work in parallel with Fall/Spring coursework may be coordinated dependent security clearance requirement completion timing and on candidate availability
•This position is in support of an integral 24/7 Operations environment. As such the work schedule may include working a combination of day staff and shift schedules, coordinated and assigned based on candidate availability and the dynamic needs of the team

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
•Must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal
•Must be able to apply critical thinking toward problem solving in time-critical situations
•Must effectively work in a team environment

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
•Experience providing/receiving training to/from a wide range of learning/teaching styles
•Working in a virtual team environment
•Proficient use of both Windows and UNIX platforms
•Experience with Perl, VBA, and/or other scripting languages
•Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite

Required Education:
•Current student working to achieve a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or other applicable STEM degree
•A GPA of 3.0+ is highly desired
