Job Description:

The Business Development (BD) Senior Manager for Strategic and Missile Defense Systems within Strategic and Naval Systems (SNS) will be responsible to the SNS Business Development Executive for the development, management and alignment of growth plans, strategies, and capture initiatives with regards to both International & Domestic new business and growth opportunities for SM-3 Blk IB, SM-3 Blk IIA, EKV/RKV, NGKV/NGI or other SNS programs as assigned. This position will also support key pursuits to sustain and grow Raytheon market positions in missile defense. The position is part of the SNS Business Development organization and reports directly to the SNS VP, Business Development Executive.

The Strategic and Missile Defense Systems portfolio within SNS consists of all variants of the Standard Missile-3 Block IB, Standard Missile-3 Block IIA, Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle (EKV), Redesigned EKV (RKV), Advanced Kill Vehicles, and European Missile Defense efforts.

The selected candidate will, at the direction of the BD Director, Executive BD leadership and Product Line leadership, represent the interests of RMS to the Missile Defense Agency, the U.S. Navy and other associated customers to include potential international allies and partners.

The successful candidate will work to ensure alignment and prudent integration of the organization's domestic & international resources in an effort to maximize both short and long term new business & growth opportunities.

This role includes coordination across Missile Systems' divisions and their current business pursuits and close partnership with Raytheon's Corporate BD, to include Raytheon International. The candidate must have a balanced understanding of the substantive issues of and customer needs of the Missile Defense Agency and the U.S. Navy, as well as pertinent policy-level issues revolving around the missile defense mission, and Homeland Defense. A solid understanding of the STANDARD Missile products / solutions and additional understanding of our Intermediate and Short Range Defense Systems including ESSM, RAM, SeaRAM and Phalanx is also required.

Major Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensuring the Strategic and Missile Defense Systems organization achieves all financial metrics related to bookings & sales as stipulated by the SNS Business Development Executive

  • Assisting the BDE in analysis and management of operational reports and program status with regards to New Business Initiatives/Investment and providing analytical recommendations on management path forward when warranted

  • As directed by the Strategic and Missile Defense Systems Business Development director, and in conjunction with the SNS Product Line, assist with the development of the SNS strategic plan to advance the business mission by promoting revenue generation, profitability and growth.

  • Provide detailed analyses of International BMD requirements and develop time phased planning to enable international customers to acquire BMD capability

  • Interact with, and represent, the SNS Product line to senior officials in both the US and foreign governments regarding the entire product portfolio.

  • Collaborate with other RMS Product Lines to ensure alignment and de-confliction of revenue projections. Develop Product and Technology roadmaps in collaboration with SNS Product Line leadership and Advanced Missile Systems (AMS) BD and Product leaders.

  • Assist the SNS Business Development Directorate with operational management of the organization on an as-needed basis

  • Develop and implement strategies for generating new SNS customers in both Domestic and International markets as a means to achieve core growth and adjacencies

  • Assist as the SStrategic and Missile Defense Systems Product Line Mergers & Acquisitions Manager as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), reporting to both the SNS Business Development Director and SNS Product Line V.P. Identify partnering strategies for both domestic and international market access and growth.

Required Experience and Skills:

The ideal candidate will exhibit proactive & innovative management styles as seen through previous professional experience. This individual will have the ability to manage a number of projects simultaneously and will have demonstrated experience in entrepreneurial environments related to expansion and revenue generation. Further, the successful candidate will be technically conversant as proven through either traditional education, or direct experience as a means to be effective within both the business development and customer communities unique to this position. Further, the successful candidate will have strong business acumen through education and experience in developing and promoting business cases for company investment and partnering.

  • At least 12 years of progressively responsible career experience, demonstrating ability to acclimate to increasing levels of responsibility

  • Familiarity with the Missile Defense Agency, U.S. Navy (including NIPO), Missile Defense Policy Departments related stakeholders

  • Experience in dealing with international partners, particularly in Asia and Europe , including their customs, military needs and acquisition processes

  • Will have thorough understanding of International Acquisition Process (Both FMS & DCS), as well as all licensing, ITAR and off-set requirements

  • Solid understanding International/ Political Economy/ defense policy/diplomatic relations

  • Proven track record of customer engagement and relationship-building
  • Proven experience working self-directed in a matrix organization to drive collaboration to develop and achieve shared goals.
  • Security Clearance: Existing DoD Secret

Desired Skills:

  • Master's Degree (MBA Preferred)

  • Existing DoD Top Secret clearance
  • Desire for increasing knowledge/perspective
  • Acute listening skills with ability to effectively sort facts, demonstrating sound judgment and effective decision making
  • Effective organization and teamwork skills
  • Sufficient technical background to adequately represent the product line's missile defense products and Naval air and missile defense products
  • Business acumen and ability to conduct analyses of new business models and alternatives as a means to drive efficient and profitable revenue streams for SNS in changing environments
  • Strategic perspective to identify new growth areas for SNS
  • Foreign language skills in Japanese, Korean, German, or Dutch

Required Education (including Major):

Bachelor's Degree (Business, Economic, Political Science/International Affairs, Engineering)
