Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Lead to work at Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant in Glen Rose, TX.

The successful candidate will be working as part of a team of engineers and designers at the Comanche Peak Nuclear Plant helping to lead personnel in the mechanical and structural groups in developing plant modification packages.

The successful candidate will exercises sound judgment in assessing problem situations or complex issues, review completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance with codes and design data, coordinate the efforts of the group with other discipline groups on the same project.

The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:

  • Serves as a fully capable professional in the field with minimal direction.

  • Applies advanced knowledge to develop design procedures software and tools to facilitate high quality cost-effective technical project activities.

  • Develops estimates of technical efforts for projects.

  • Manages communication and collaboration with full design team and client.

  • Conducts interdisciplinary review of project deliverables and develops estimates of technical efforts for projects.

  • Oversees the development and implementation of technical approach and the completion of complex work which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity

  • Initiates and creates project designs and plans with responsibility for preparing presentation and design drawings.

  • Prepares designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings and working drawings.

  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. May oversee the work of less experienced designers.

  • Meets with clients and oversees all aspects of the project to ensure client needs are met

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from a four year accredited college or university and 6 years of relevant engineering and design experience including developing modification packages for various mechanical/piping systems serving nuclear power plants or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • The successful candidate must be capable of communicating and collaborating with the mechanical and civil/structural engineers and designers, as well as being able to build a successful working relationship with client staff at the Comanche Peak site.

  • The successful candidate will have the technical knowledge and ability to perform engineering calculations such as hydraulic analysis, equipment sizing, pressure drop, etc., develop design and procurement specifications, and develop and update piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) for various plant mechanical systems.

  • The successful candidate must be able to develop material and work-hour estimates as well as engineering and design schedules.

  • Must be able to obtain un-escorted access into a nuclear power plant and be familiar with nuclear standards and guidelines.

  • Must have good communication skills and experience working in multi-discipline project team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional engineering license and field experience at a nuclear power plant preferred.

  • Experience in a discipline leadership role a plus
