Job Description: We are looking for a Business Area (BA) Chief Engineer (CE) to join our team in Integrated Defense Systems (IDS).
The Chief Engineer is responsible for flawless technical execution across the entire business area and develops strong relationships with domestic and international customers within the Business. The Business Area CE defines and maintains the technical baseline and ensures flawless execution of all programs within the Business Area at Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS). This position will report to Strategic Architecture Director and work with the IDS Technical Director and CE to provide technical oversight to the Business Area in support of the Business Vice President. The Business Chief Engineer will preside over all design reviews as well as providing final approval of the Technical Data Packages within the Business Area. The Business Chief Engineer will be the main contributor to cost estimates and oversea technical cost and schedule performance.
Responsibilities will include:
Ensure the performance of Program Area and Program Chief Engineers so that the top–priority technical issues are driven to closure, to maintain cost and schedule targets
Build and sustain the relationship with the Customer; understand their community and priorities
Implement’s IDS commonality efforts and design guidance system
Work to cultivate new suppliers as well as maintaining flawless delivery and quality of products and services from our current suppliers
Engage in design gate reviews and customer design reviews
Coordinate enterprise reach for color teams and technical issues, and supports other Business Area red team reviews
Maintains up to date knowledge, and competitive intelligence of industry capabilities and ensures Raytheon capabilities are competitive
Approves Engineering cost and technical estimates, and ensures the technical compliance with governing requirements, and ensures that the approach/implementation and program plan to successfully achieve the technical baseline
Participate in Cross Business and Cross Raytheon technology forums (e.g. Tech Integration Week, Technology Focus Area Workshops)
Work towards achieving the key performance parameters, document the approach for retirement of technical risks, and responsible for meeting system requirements at sell-off
This position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
U.S. Citizenship is required
Active/Current Secret US Security Clearance.
Possesses knowledge of program technical execution and/or pursuits
Minimum of 14 years prior relevant experience
Has proven track record of developing new customer relations
Experience working with internal and external Customers
Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
20 years+ subject area professional experience
Strong understanding of industry technologies and capabilities within Business Area
Effective leadership skills and the ability to demonstrate team building and collaboration across technical functions and program organizations to ensure performance of program assigned CE’s
Ability to think strategically and put together short and long term plans for acquisition, development, integration, and deployment of technologies in support of business programs.
Ability to oversee the development of technical approach, implementation, and program plans to successfully achieve the technical baselines
Outstanding communication, organization, and problem solving skills
Expert knowledge of gate review process and product line management
Comprehensive planning skills for both short-term requirements and long-term opportunities;
Knowledge, ability and experience with Raytheon Six Sigma, Integrated Product Team deployment, IPDS, and Raytheon Policies
Good judgment and decision-making skills
Ability to achieve results and effectiveness of multiple programs considered to be of significant importance to the Business Area’s long-term success
Ability to obtain Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance
