Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Project Geotechnical Engineer with very strong technical skills for employment in the Oakland, CA office. As part of our Water Business Line, you will have the opportunity to work on very challenging projects including Dams, Levees, Pipelines, Bridges, Tunnels, Building Structures, and other Facilities, and collaborate with a wide range of other disciplines.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Overseeing subsurface investigations including drilling exploration boreholes and advancing CPTs at various sites throughout Northern California

  • Reviewing and assigning geotechnical samples for laboratory testing

  • Overseeing inspection of construction activities to monitor progress and assess conformance to engineering plans, specifications and construction standards

  • Performing and overseeing geotechnical analyses including slope stability, seepage, settlement, earth retention, liquefaction, and shallow and deep foundations

  • Preparing geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations

  • Reviewing regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design and permitting work

  • Preparing and/or peer reviewing designs, specifications, and construction documents

  • Assembling and documenting geotechnical data using software that includes: Excel, Word, gINT, AutoCAD

  • Applying QA/QC requirements to their own work and work of the project team

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS, 5+ years of related experience.PE registration

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS Degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Focus.
