Job Summary

The Field Service Representative (Heavy Wheel Specialist) performs technical inspections and repairs on heavy tactical wheeled vehicles, material handling equipment and power generation equipment and their sub-systems IAW appropriate procedures and publications.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and service Oshkosh defense vehicles. If necessary, coordinate with local service dealers.
  • Coordinate with customers, dealers, and fellow employees to get service and parts expedited to the customer’s satisfaction.
  • Complies with all safety, environmental and quality standards and applicable COPs and DOPs Anticipate and manage customer needs and develop recommended parts stocking requirements for upcoming field or maintenance operations.
  • Performs diagnostic tests, using measuring devices, instruments, test equipment, special tools and lifting devices, to identify mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and cooling systems failures IAW appropriate procedures and publications
  • Operates/tests various types of equipment, and attached systems IAW appropriate procedures and publications
  • Repairs mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and cooling system systems components, on vehicles, equipment and their subsystems as assigned IAW appropriate procedures and publications
  • Performs clean-up duties and polices the shop and work areas as assigned
  • Complies with all Company rules, policies and procedures
  • Manage defense, domestic and international field service efforts.
  • Identify and record systemic issues and communicate back from the field.
  • Conduct training in formal classroom setting to customers and service providers.
  • Support maintenance of service report database.
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills

  • Must understand and be able to use technical manuals
  • Must be able to read complex schematic diagrams
  • Field of Expertise: Inspection, trouble shooting, repair and verification of wheeled vehicles, material handling equipment, power generation equipment and equipment
  • Must have basic computer operating skills

Experience & Education

  • Must have seven (7) years verifiable experience in inspection, verification, repair, and maintenance on heavy wheeled vehicles and equipment (one year of track experience may be applied toward the seven years verifiable experience) with at least two (2) years’ experience in a lead role
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

  • May be an austere environment
