Senior Director of Engineering

Summary/Objective

â?¢ Leads the entire engineering department and is responsible for all the technical aspects for the companyâ??s
bids, proposals, and market offerings as well as the design, development, and technical compliance of the
companyâ??s programs and products
â?¢ Leads and manages key activities in the development departments inclusive of systems, projects,
applications, network, software, mechanical, and embedded engineering and process automation in
support of daily direct and indirect programs
â?¢ Oversees all activities of the staff, builds engineering capabilities, manages the departmental operating
budget, and supports any budget development for investment projects
â?¢ Individual creates and maintains positive relationships with the internal and external stakeholders of the
business in order to establish a consumer-focused culture

Essential Functions

â?¢ Drives the technical strategy, architecture, and development of the businessâ??s site products, solutions, and
services
â?¢ In this capacity, this individual develops and implements both sustaining and innovative strategies
inclusive of technological tools and processes required for current and future development
â?¢ Evaluates technology development in the marketplace and recommends and supports the technical
aspects of strategic technology partnerships and/or acquisition activities
â?¢ Organizes activities for the development, implementation, release, and maintenance of projects necessary
for development and sustenance
â?¢ Performs engineering design evaluations and ensure the completion of projects within resource, budget,
scheduling, can compliance restraints

Supervisory Responsibility

â?¢ Manages the entire engineering department overseeing resources, staffing, and the enhancement and
maintenance of a first-class team
â?¢ In charge of the management and execution of site software project plans and delivery commitments
â?¢ Leads the development teams with a focus on innovative technologies
â?¢ In charge of the management of technical integrations and relationships with internal and external
stakeholders
â?¢ In charge of team-building and provides technical leadership for the design and implementation of
features and system enhancements that are need for efficient operation of the Engineering group
â?¢ In his leadership capacity, this individual develops, implements, and maintains site engineering standards
and policies
â?¢ Acts as mentor to key development personnel, assisting in the execution of duties upon request, and
readying these key personnel for the occupation of this position
â?¢ Plays a highly collaborative role where he works closely with the senior engineering and Corporate
leadership in defining long-term organizational strategies and roadmaps
â?¢ Coordinates and communicates development activities and priorities with the senior engineering
leadership in order to ensure the successful completion of project objectives
â?¢ Helps the junior development teams in building new products and features from the early phases of site
product development to completion
â?¢ Takes initiative to explore, evangelize, and implement innovative technologies within the business in order
to improve the businessâ??s internal platforms as well as customer experience
â?¢ Provides support and leadership to development departments, facilitating continuous evolution in both
the front end and back end development teams
â?¢ Follows up on the business procedures, policies, and associated tools in order to develop processes that
are more efficient and ensure conformity with the businessâ??s policies and overall objectives
â?¢ Perform similar duties as deems fit by Company Executive Leadership team for the proper execution of
his duties and duties

Travel

â?¢ Up to 35% travel may be required on occasion to participate in meetings with Customers, Suppliers,
Potential Technology Partners, Potential Acquisitions, Trade Shows, Technical Symposiums, and Sales
and Business Development

Education and Experience

â?¢ Has to have a bachelorâ??s degree (Masterâ??s degree preferred) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering,
Computer Science or any other relevant field
â?¢ An equivalent of the same in working experience is also acceptable for this position
â?¢ A candidate for this position will have had at least 15 years of working experience in a senior development
engineering department, preferably as a Head of Engineering
â?¢ Must have had vast experience in development, sustainment, and operational experience developing data
communication products, solutions, and services
â?¢ Had a proven and successful record leading an engineering development team and running site
development projects
â?¢ Have had recent experience working with industry leading technologies for data communications
â?¢ Deep knowledge and experience with Satellite Communication system and analysis is a plus
â?¢ Have 5 years of experience managing cross-functional engineering managers and engineering team
members as well as demonstrating knowledge and interest in new and emerging technologies and in
engineering development tools
â?¢ Has a proven ability and a track record in managing and delivering results for senior engineering
leadership
â?¢ Must possess exceptional communication skills both in written and in verbal form
â?¢ Must be able to provide clear conveyance of instructions and information down the line to junior development departments
â?¢ Communication skills are also imperative for the Director Engineering in his collaborative capacity, which will play a highly significant role in determining how efficiently cross-functional duties are executed
â?¢ Must have certain personal attributes that make him suitable for the position. He will be consumer and result oriented, be highly organized, be highly analytical and procedural, be a creative and strategic thinker, and he will have an ability to work on multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
