Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Biologist/Ecologist for employment in the Burnaby Office. AECOM is pleased to include you in a unique development opportunity, the Graduate Development Program (GDP). This program is designed to support your assimilation into the organization and assist with creating a foundation of knowledge for a successful career at AECOM. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope

  • Collect and enter data, and apply technical principles and theories

  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in environmental science, biology or a related field from a recognized University or College or equivalent

  • Knowledge of ecological principles and local systems

  • Knowledge of aquatic, terrestrial, avian, reptile or bat ecology, identification, and impact assessments, and implementation of field protocols

  • Knowledge of state and federal ecological regulatory framework

  • Highly motivated and accountable

  • Enjoy working outdoors

  • Be an effective communicator

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently

  • Ability to work in a field environment

  • Adherence to and enforcement of AECOM’s Health and Safety Protocols

  • Master’s degree (optional)

  • Experience with biological field sampling

  • Experience with air photo interpretation (hard/soft copy), Global Positioning Systems, and map and compass orientation

  • Wilderness First Aid (optional) and/or wilderness experience

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Valid Standard First Aid + CPR
