Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Junior - Mid-Level Environmental Scientist/Engineer or Technologist for immediate employment in Winnipeg. The main job functions of this position will be supporting and executing Phase 1 and 2 ESAs, groundwater monitoring sampling and other duties as assigned.

Please note, approximately 50% of the project tasks may constitute field work with the remainder being office-based. Other responsibilities of this position include, but may not limited to:

  • Generation of safety documentation and dissemination of safety culture to subcontractors.

  • Accountability for project performance and compliance with project delivery expectations.

  • Demonstrating creativity, foresight, and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual field-related technical problems.

  • Reporting of field findings including selection of applicable guidelines.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results.

  • Responsible for compliance with all AECOM field supervisory requirements and AECOM and Client safety requirements

  • Junior project management duties such as cost tracking, invoicing, key performance indicator (KPI) tracking etc.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Science or Engineering or comparable technical training (i.e. Certified Engineering Technologists (C.E.T.s), scientists or engineers)

  • 2+ years of relevant experience.

  • Valid Manitoba Driver’s license.

  • Physical capability to conduct field work (walk in rugged terrain, in all types of weather conditions, sometimes for long periods of time and capable of lifting up to 30 lbs of equipment).

  • Understanding of CCME guidelines.

  • Experience with Phase 1 and 2 ESAs and groundwater monitoring and sampling.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage time effectively and competing deadlines.

  • Excellent knowledge of Excel and Word, GINT considered an asset.

  • High capacity with a can-do, positive attitude and an ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience preferred
