The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Project Manager in leading the successful planning, execution and close out of a project. This includes helping manage the overall project to ensure successful delivery on the contractual commitments and financial targets for the Project in order to achieve or exceed the profitability targets for the Division.
Coach and mentor the project team staff. Provide day to day direction to the team in areas of responsibility.
Assist in developing staffing plans and functional coverage is maintained for the Project.
Assist in identifying key project resources.
Assist in the development of project procedures and processes.
Assist in the development of project estimates and “Basis of Estimates”.
Develop the project budget for direct, indirect and other costs based on estimates provided for identified project scope of work.
Support the constructability assessments for new projects, by working closely with the project teams and the engineers.
Assist the project team through the construction project phases.
Assist in the development of the contracting strategies, commercial terms for the project and finalizing the project contract.
Work with the project team to develop the project schedule and conduct regular reviews and updates to the schedule based on project progress and change.
Oversee the change management process and approval of all trends and change orders as necessary.
Review and provide input into the project turnover strategy (and commissioning where applicable). Work with the Project Manager to finalize agreement on the turnover plan (and commissioning where applicable), which will identify the roles responsibilities.
Review all performance indicators and as part of the monthly construction and business operation reviews. Provide input to the Project Manager and take actions where required to hit targets.
Participate in contract review meetings.
Manage and apply risk management to any project risks to ensure risk is minimized.
Assist in reviewing the bi-weekly manpower forecast and prioritizing labor loading based on project requirements and business priorities.
Work with the Project Manager to align functional plans and deliverables based on the project schedule.
Assist in the development the project Management Plan and oversee the management of the project documentation.
Assist in the development of the Project Communication plan.
Forecast project revenues and margins. Conduct monthly analysis to identify opportunities to meet project targets.
Oversee preparation and delivery of the Project Closeout Report.
Other duties as assigned.
Represent AECOM in meetings as necessary. Hold all parties accountable for delivery of materials and engineering packages as defined within the project execution plan.
Establish, communicate and execute project priorities as they apply to the Client Contract
Complete and submit monthly documents to the appropriate departments. (cost, safety reports, etc.)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of construction.
Intermediate knowledge of estimating techniques and strategies.
Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, analyze and understand construction drawings, associated documentation, work breakdown structures, etc.
Ability to assume responsibility and to interface and to communicate effectively with others, having strong interpersonal skills and self-motivation.
Able to use work breakdown structures and reporting progress.

Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, Project) AutoCAD
Primavera Scheduling Software
Mechanical/Civil Engineering degree or equivalent
PMI Certification a plus
5 years of practical experience in managing projects and personnel
