Job Summary
 
The Grounds Maintenance Worker is responsible for overall maintenance of site grounds to include, but not limited to, roadways, recreation areas, lawns, flowers, drainage areas and overall site beautification.
 
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
  • Operate mowers to maintain lawns and camp grounds; inspect tractor and mower for safe and proper operation; repair and maintain equipment as needed, replacing fuel, fluids and oil.
  • Mow, edge, trim and rake lawns; plant, cultivate and water lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers; operate a push mowers, tractor, chain saw, blowers, chipper, sweeper, trimmers, edger and weed eaters
  • Rake, sweep, blow and pick up clippings, paper and trash from landscaped areas; clean storm drains and gutters; operate sweeping machine to remove glass, paper and other debris from parking lots.
  • Observe assigned work areas for maintenance needs and vandalism and notify appropriate personnel.
  • Reseed, fertilize and renovate lawns and fields.
  • Perform minor maintenance repair on grounds equipment.
  • Pick up trash, rocks and dirt and load trucks.
  • Perform grounds keeping and outside building maintenance duties.
  • Perform other qualified duties as required.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Ability to communicate in English language preferred.
  • Ability to read and communicate in writing in local language preferred.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.

Experience & Education

  • Previous grounds maintenance experience preferred.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Ability to lift/carry at least 50 lbs.
  • Place of duty and environmental conditions can be extremely austere, harsh, and work may be performed under hostile and life-threatening conditions.
