ManTech is seeking an experienced Project / Systems Engineer to support a complex ground GPS modernization program managed by Marine Corps Systems Command (Quantico / Stafford, VA), their technical integration team located at Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic’s Digital Integration Facility (Charleston, SC), and the Air Force’s GPS Directorate (El Segundo, CA).  This Engineer will work from a Stafford, VA facility but routine CONUS travel will be required.

This position requires an active DOD SECRET clearance (in JPAS).

General Responsibilities:

This Project / Systems Engineer serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for System of Systems (SoS) Engineering & Integration matters, and represents the government Lead Engineer in a Program Management Office (PMO).  This Engineer will:

  • Provide Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) process experience to guide and facilitate the program team through structured assessments of system performance and health in correlation with the Acquisition Process / Timeline.
  • Provide technical advice, solutions, and overarching engineering support during the entire program life-cycle from analysis and refinement of requirements, through the design and development of hardware and/or software products, procurement, production, system integration and testing, to fielding and sustainment activities. 
  • Assist the government in coordinating and tracking integration, issues/risks, and configuration management activities with a multitude of program stakeholders.
  • Assist the government Lead Engineer in identifying and mitigating technical and programmatic issues.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing to assert the government Lead Engineer’s position on technical and programmatic issues
  • Participate in the development and/or review of technical documentation, test plans, white papers, and other engineering documentation. 
  • Participate in technology demonstrations and formal testing events (both in a lab and field environment).
  • Support / facilitate technical meetings, working groups, reviews and briefings to include developing technical reports, presentations and associated documentation, and by providing post-meeting summaries / meeting minutes.
  • Operate effectively in a Joint Force Acquisition Program environment

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

    Desire candidates who have an Engineering or Technical degree (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, etc.).  However, having significant “DoD Acquisition Systems Engineering” experience may substitute for a degree.

Desire candidates with at least 5 years of DoD systems engineering experience, preferably in or supporting a DoD Systems Acquisition PMO. Experience should include, but not be limited to, the “General Responsibilities” noted above.

Prior Marine Corps or Army ground experience is a plus.
