Become an integral part of a diverse team in the Mission, Cyber and Intelligence Solutions (MCIS) Group.  Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, mission oriented Technical Writer, in the Herndon, VA or Hanover, MD area, with strong Customer relationships.  At ManTech, you will help protect our national security while working on innovative projects that offer opportunities for advancement.  As the Technical Writer, you will work and be responsible for the preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of technical documents including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation.

The Technical Writer will write and edit technical documentation for all of the project’s hardware and software to include installation, configuration, and how-to documentation, including policies and procedures. S/he produces implementation guides and end-user guides describing capabilities, and formats technical publications, pamphlets, technical drawings, flowcharts, etc. to specified standards. Consults with technical personnel and other available resources to obtain the necessary information.

The Cyber Advanced Research & Development (CARD) Division provides cyber solutions to a wide range of Defense and Intelligence Community customers. This division consists of a team of technical leaders that deliver advanced technical solutions to government organizations. Our customers have high standards, are technically adept, and use our products daily to support their mission of protecting national security. A qualified candidate will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to:

  • ?Developing and maintaining technical documentation for system tradecraft methodologies to include: operations documentation, user guides, technical publications, briefings and training materials
  • Gather technical information, prepares written text 
  • Interpreting engineering, maintenance drawings and operational procedures to understand and blend large quantities of system-related information
  • Maintaining current internal documentation library
  • Interpret engineering and maintenance drawings, operational procedures to understand and blend large quantities of computer related information 
  • Work on all phases of documentation to ensure technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications (as required) and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style
  • Using multiple word processing and presentation tools, such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Visio
  • Coordinate with technical personnel to document key elements of operational functionality, including overviews, processes/workflows, requirements, etc., to produce quality documentation and training materials 

Requirements :

  • 3 years of technical writing experience preparing documents, reports, responses, and briefings targeted to a wide range of audiences including senior management
  • 1 year experience in effectively formatting/editing technical publications to include writing, editing and illustration
  • Experience with PowerPoint, MS Word, Visio
  • 2 years in-depth experience with word processing, presentation, spreadsheet and database software
  • Review, interpret, and apply RFP/RFQ document requirements 
  • Format deliverables for final (hard copy) production 
  • Format deliverables for final electronic submission 
  • Organize material and write descriptive copy according to standards for order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology
  • Conduct research on subject matter by interviewing and observing subject matter experts, researching journals, on-line sources, and other substantive source material to write  technical material

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical Process/Procedure writing experience
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task
  • Analytical thinker with ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent planning, organization, and time managements skills
  • Familiar with Agile development cycle

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to maintain active Secret clearance and eligible for Top Secret
