Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Construction Manager for immediate employment for the Greenville Office, but the position may include travel statewide. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Meet with clients to identify future opportunities.

  • Write Proposals and prepare scopes/fee estimates for new work.

  • Seek, train and hire qualified inspectors and managers, then manage that staff.

  • Review, edit, and interpret plans, specifications, and other construction contract documents for constructability, bid ability, site access, and recommend changes to maximize the ultimate success of the project

  • Meet with professional consultants, project managers, and site staff to develop phasing plans, work restrictions, and construction schedules.

  • Participate in pre-bid walk and bid opening

  • Chair pre-construction meeting and weekly construction progress meetings

  • Resolve unforeseen site conditions, unplanned interferences, contract discrepancies, and other construction conflict problems and disputes between the contractor, site staff, inspector, project manager, and professional consultants

  • Monitor construction progress and costs; take corrective action as required to manage both schedule and budget

  • Provide continuous coordination between all stakeholders

  • Direct architects and engineer consultants to provide services as necessary to support the project

  • Administer the change order and allowance process; review requests for schedule or cost adjustment and negotiate changes to the contract; prepare change order documents for approval

  • Evaluate, approve and process the contractor’s request for payment

  • Maintain project documentation files

  • Visit construction sites to observe work in progress

  • Provide guidance and direction as needed to the project inspectors

  • Respond to questions and concerns

  • Manage the project closeout phase, including certificate of substantial completion, punch list, and receipt of as-builts, warranties, and manuals

  • Use word processing, spreadsheet, database, and scheduling software applications to prepare correspondence, reports, schedule, and other documents related to the project

  • Provide continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality, seamless customer service

  • Perform related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field

  • 8 + years experience as a project manager/construction manager

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in South Carolina

  • Possession of a valid driver’s license

  • SCDOT Specifications

  • Pertinent state safety regulations

  • Methods of construction

  • Technical aspects of the field of specialty

  • Reading and writing English communication skills
