AECOM has an exciting opportunity for a Transportation Engineer to provide engineering consulting services for our Florida Department of Transportation client. This position can be located out of the Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, or Tampa, Florida offices. The candidate will be part of a dynamic team, working on a wide variety of high profile projects that support the future transportation improvements on existing roadways and new corridors. This position allows the candidate to be on the leading edge of transportation engineering analysis and modeling for connected/automated vehicles, managed lanes, innovative designs, and multi-resolution applications.
Strong emphasis will be placed on technical experience, high-quality deliverables, writing and communication skills, and the ability to lead tasks and ensure delivery excellence with respect to budget and schedule. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established traffic design/operation oriented career in a variety of transportation projects.
Perform analytical tasks including traffic data collection and data analysis.
Perform traffic and capacity analysis on roadway networks.
Perform transportation planning assignments including micro-simulation, travel demand forecasting, corridor studies, safety studies, traffic and revenue studies, Interchange Access Request (IAR) documentation and Transportation System Management and Operations (TSM&O) studies.
Evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria in performing traffic analysis on roadway networks
Knowledge and experience with dynamic traffic assignment and multi-resolution modeling in VISUM/VISSIM
Develop recommendations for proposed improvements based on traffic operations analyses and micro-simulations
Prepare written reports and presentations of project findings that support Project Development and Environment (PD&E) studies, Design/Concept projects, signal warrant analysis and corridor re-timing studies moving projects into design
BS in Civil Engineering (with an emphasis in Transportation Engineering) +2 years of related experience or demonstrated the equivalency of experience and/or education
2 plus years of experience in traffic engineering studies, safety studies, traffic operational studies, signal timing, and PD&E traffic studies.
Hands-on experience in traffic operational analysis such as HCS, SYNCHRO, SIDRA and VISSIM.
Experience with dynamic traffic assignment and multi-resolution modeling in VISUM/VISSIM.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience making presentations to clients.Ability to acquire registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)
