We are actively seeking a talented Director of Interiors for immediate employment in our Coral Gables, FL office.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Management

Provide strategic vision & daily administration

Development & execution of goals, business plan & profitability

Work to support brand messaging

Maintain action plan for projects & conduct regular review sessions

Supervise production of drawings & documents, oversee design quality control

Manage fee proposals & workload projections

Work with PM's to identify budget & schedule constraints, support project profitability

Oversee the implementation & quality of the documentation of the design

Understand & enforce conditions of contracts & understand scope & seek appropriate additional services

Ability to think strategically, implement change, enforce policy & resolve conflict

Leadership/Development

Mentor by coaching, growing & developing design teams & individuals

  • Responsible for performance development, prepare & deliver staff evaluations & determine workload allocation

Lead interviews & recruiting of professional staff & build appropriate staff levels

Encourage staff exploration & innovation to achieve design excellence & continual improvement to achieve design ideas & concepts

Keep abreast of new technology, materials, methods & developments in the field

Maintain membership & activity in industry organizations and be an active member of the community

Seek out speaking engagements, writing of thought leadership articles/publications

Promote design culture internally/externally inclusive of outreach via social media, publications, events & conferences

Business Development

Development & execution of the marketing strategy at the local & regional business unit level collaborating with leaders

Lead development & strategy of individual pursuits including proposal development/response, fee preparation, interview preparation leadership, presentation development, team selection, coaching & client follow through

Identify business opportunities & grow current client relationships including early interaction

Ensure positive client, consultant, contractor & jurisdictional satisfaction, grow our presence in the market

Coordinate with marketing to submit for industry awards

Knowledge/Skills

Experience in design, design development & project leadership for all projects

Strong knowledge of FF&E, interior finishes, lighting, signage, color & materials

Thorough understanding of work plans, schedules, staffing & budgets, resulting in profitably

Create & maintain strong working relationships with clients

Thorough knowledge of sustainability, integrated design & LEED guidelines

Knowledge of BIM

Preferred proficiency in: Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup & InDesign graphic software

Strong organizational, interpersonal & communication skills - both verbal/presentation and written

Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills

Respond to changing demands

Strong leadership and team building skills

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture required

  • 15+ years of experience with large Interiors or Architectural firm, with at least 10 years as Senior Level Interior Designer; design and/or project management experience for Commercial Interiors required

  • Registered Interior Designer or Architect with current license required
