Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer 5 for the Greenwood Village, CO office.

The Engineer is responsible for perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing research, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems and generally as a member of a design, analysis or review team on more complex assignments or as a lead on less complex assignments.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Perform a range of design development, analysis or review tasks under minimal supervision.

2. Act as a lead on less complex tasks and responsible for a portion of a design or section of an analysis or design review.

3. Generate complete design specifications of more complex projects.

4. Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.

5. Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.

6. Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.

7. Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.

8. Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.

9. Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.

10. Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.

Minimum Requirements

• Must have obtained a Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering from a 4 year accredited college or university.

• A minimum of 10 years of job-related experience or equivalent.

• Must be capable of applying Protection Engineering principles to problems ranging from simple code consulting to unique and complex technical problems.

• Familiar with NFPA codes and standards, evaluation of fire protection programs and facilities.

• Acquainted with development and implementation of fire protection programs, fire protection systems support including minor design modifications or recommendations.

• Able to provide Fire Protection engineering project support ranging from small focused scope to large, multimillion dollar one of a kind projects.

• Knowledgeable in computer modeling of fire, egress or other fire related or influenced phenomena.

• Candidate must be eligible to obtain a DOE Q clearance and access to Commercial Nuclear Facilities.

• Candidate must be able to travel on business as needed.

• Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen.

• Individuals holding Dual Citizenship are not eligible.

Additional Information:

• Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with Department of Energy (DOE) projects is preferred.
