Job Duties:

  • Technical assessment of projects in line with HMRC’s R&D tax relief guidelines and preparation of supporting technical documentation.

  • Ensure R&D claims meet the requirements of the relevant tax legislation and guidelines.

  • Preparation of high-quality R&D claims and corresponding financial calculations following liaison with both internal and external tax teams to ensure tax returns and computations correctly reflect the outcome of technical assessments.

  • Project management of claims (i.e. continuous liaison with clients, colleagues and key contacts at HMRC to ensure claims are optimised and deadlines are met).

  • Attend meetings, build and develop effective working relationships with colleagues, intermediaries and other networks to help develop further opportunities.

  • Develop own knowledge and skills to keep technical knowledge up to date.

  • Support R&D Tax Relief claims in the event of HMRC R&D enquiries.

  • Actively supervise and train junior R&D consultants as well as business development teams.

  • Contribute to the knowledge management of the Fiscal Incentives team.

  • Drive performance standards through expert communication and effective use of the performance management process with the team.

  • Manage the delivery of projects, ensuring effective use of resources to achieve optimal output quality.

  • Utilise in-house project management systems/protocols.
