Job Summary

Employee will be part of the Deployment Pool and will be required to support TDY deployments to various CONUS/OCONUS locations as required. Oversees and coordinates the work effort of assigned subordinate maintenance personnel in support of the unit’s daily RPA maintenance operations. Inspects and performs organizational and intermediate level aircraft maintenance and modifications on RPA systems and support equipment, as required. Incumbent will supervise the servicing, repair, and overhaul of aircraft, aircraft engines, and other critical components to ensure airworthiness. Directs and performs the repair, replacement, and rebuilding of aircraft structures, landing gear, power plants/trains, fuel systems, and functional components.

Inspects power plant repairs, including cracked components, oil leaks, etc. Completes malfunction diagnosis to isolate causes and direct appropriate repairs. Supervises repair of damaged components and removal of engine/major components from aircraft. Directs aircraft maintenance services to include engine flushing/cleaning, parts lubrication, and required maintenance checks. Recommends revisions to maintenance procedures to improve efficiency and ensure quality workmanship. USAF equivalent position is Aircraft Mechanic Superintendent. Position reports to the, on-duty, Production Superintendent.

Note: This is a non-traditional position that will support a flexible work schedule.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Interfaces with operational customer to develop flying schedules and plans major maintenance events, completes daily and monthly operational reports, and documents inventory usage and control workflow.

  2. Works with subordinate A&P/ISR Mechanics and technical representatives to trouble shoot, diagnose, and solve unusual and complex maintenance problems.

  3. Supports aircraft maintenance safety programs and serves as a member on the Safety Committee, as needed.

  4. Assists with planning and scheduling of aircraft utilization and maintenance activity and coordinates performance with operational customer.

  5. Ensures accurate parts inventory for TNB/FOM assets.

  6. Performs evaluations on maintenance and repair tasks to ensure completion and accuracy with technical data.

  7. Oversees repairs on aircraft equipment, engines, and sub-systems to ensure serviceability.

  8. Directs inspections and repairs to correct power plant (engine) malfunctions, including cracked components, oil leaks, etc. Tests engine operations, using testing equipment to locate source(s) of malfunction.

  9. Oversees removal of engine and major components from aircraft, inspects parts for wear, warping, or other defects. Directs repairs of defective engine components.

  10. Ensures repairs to flight controls, electrical/electronic systems, fuel/oil systems and aircraft accessories are conducted in accordance with airframe technical orders.

  11. Specialized knowledge of repairs and modifications to engines, structural components, precision repair, functional spare parts, and assemblies.

  12. Recommends revisions to maintenance procedures to improve efficiency and ensure quality workmanship.

Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have Associate’s degree, or have completed relevant military and/or vocational technical school curriculum

  • Minimum of eight-plus years actual and recent aircraft maintenance experience required

  • Must have working knowledge of basic and complex maintenance and repair

  • Must have general experience with fabrication and sheet metal

  • Expert knowledge of technical orders, diagrams and procedures as they apply to use of test equipment for analysis of airframes, engines, flight controls, pneudraulic, fuel, electrical/electronic systems, and other problems.

  • Must know advanced theory and principles of engine operations, accessories, and components; theory of flight, rigging of flight controls; electrical and electronic component; pneudraulic and mechanical system principles and determine malfunctions while restoring equipment systems and operations

  • Must be capable of reading and understanding blueprints, wiring diagrams, and data tables

  • Must be able to inspect and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment

  • Employee must meet all OCONUS Deployment criteria, to include pre-deployment medical screening as a condition of employment

  • This is a non-traditional position that will support a flexible work schedule

  • Must complete a company-administered Mechanic Assessment prior to hire

  • Must be able to lift / carry Military Issued Equipment in excess of 50 pounds

  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English

  • Must be able to provide proof of U.S. citizenship upon hire

  • Must submit updated SF-86 within 30 days of hire start date

  • Must be eligible to gain and maintain a DoD security clearance commensurate with the assigned duties

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current DoD Security Clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant career field

  • RPA operations & deployment experience

  • Prior experience as a Defense Contractor

  • Prior experience in RPA aircraft maintenance and repair

  • Licensed by the FAA as an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic

  • Possess advanced knowledge of sheet metal, composites, properties of materials, fuels, and oils
