The Line Operator position is responsible for the coordination of the Line Attendants, reporting, quality testing, and troubleshooting of equipment. In addition, as the line functions for entirety of the shift, he/she is also responsible for covering for attendants during breaks.

There are (4) four lines typically staffed within the line operator position with (3) three to (4) four attendants performing the (4) major tasks or roles that include Floating, Inspecting, Packing, and Stacking. Each line has a single operator that will perform one of these major tasks for upwards to an hour per shift. In addition, he/she supports the line by maintaining primary responsibility for equipment adjustments, replacing rolls of bag film, replacing rolls of box tape, performing quality checks of product, line reporting, and requesting and checking inventory.

The fifth major task that is required of the operator is sanitation which involves the thorough cleaning of the equipment and work area. This is scheduled to be performed following every 44 hours of production and is completed within 5 hours. In addition, mandatory sanitation is scheduled for 10 hours on every Friday.
The production area is climate controlled at 45 degrees Fahrenheit.

The personnel protective gear requirements include sanitary smock, gloves, hairnet, beard net, bump cap, ear plugs, and steel-toed shoes. Sanitation requires the use of a wet suit and rubber gloves.

The operator generally works an 8-hour shift with (2) two twenty minute breaks staggered to allow for the continuous operation of the line. (Note: First shift starts at 6:00 a.m. and works until 2:00 p.m.)
