AECOM is currently seeking a junior or established Aeronautical Ground lighting (AGL) Inspector and design engineer to be based in Manchester or the North West.
You will responsible for inspecting airports runways and designing electrical services for maintenance and improvement purposes.
This is an ideal role for someone with practical electrician experience or some working knowledge within a contractor or Airport connected to the fitting or maintenance of lighting for runways and airports in general.
We are open to junior applicants with practical experience or established professionals as this is a long-term hiring plan with you joining an established group of professionals who are leaders in this field. It is a niche market which means we will consider varied backgrounds as long as you have working experience with electronics, lighting and Airports in some fashion.

About Our Team
Our AGL team consists of a small group of experts with varied backgrounds, all with their own specialist knowledge that strengthens the team as a whole. You will spend most of your time in our Manchester office which is modern, serviced and filled with Engineers and Consultants from different and connected parts of AECOM.
We are social and support each other as we develop our careers and create long lasting friendships. You will be part of a team that visit some of the world’s largest Airports within the UK, Australia, the Middle East and Europe. On top of all the above you will support bids and tenders that few consultancies have the expertise to compete on.
Your main duties will be the design of Aeronautical Ground Lighting (AGL) and associated electrical services schemes to current codes and design practices. You will also travel widely and internationally to carry out inspections of airfield lighting installations.
In order to carry out the design of AGL systems you will need to be able to use drafting and calculation software such as AutoCAD, 3D Civils, Hevacomp or Revit.
Ideally you will have a UK Passport or be an established UK resident as some projects require security clearance that require the above documentation.
To demonstrate your interest and understanding of the role you will need to be able to show an understanding willingness to learn the systems and process required by the following Aviation authorities.
