Job Description

This is new and exciting enterprise wide work for a modernization effort. Eagle Alliance (EA) is pursuing a Systems Engineer to support a globally distributed Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solution. The solution is comprised of several back-end management technologies and provides large scale high fidelity Virtual Desktop services. The position is within EA’s Digital Services framework, supporting a massive base of end users providing critical functions and services within EA’s overall customer organization. The system engineer will interact with end users in the customer space as well as back-end services within the EA space.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work as part of a geographically distributed team responsible for the overall health of the service and its ability to meet customer/contract needs
    • 80% focus on operational / tactical needs
    • 20% focus on engineering / strategic needs
  • Systems engineering needs cover mostly Windows desktops and servers, with a rapidly growing population of Linux desktops as well
  • Participate in after-hours support via on call rotations
  • Exceptional customer service, customers will include;
    • End users
    • Contract partner organizations
    • Program management
    • Internal teams to EA, such as Datacenter Virtualization, VDI, Networking teams
  • Exceptional teamwork with internal EA teams, providers will include;
    • Windows Desktop team
    • Linux Desktop team
  • Operations and maintenance of systems providing various desktop management functions within the overall VDI solution
  • Ongoing modernization of the solution to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction

Required Qualifications:

  • DoD 8570 IAT level 2+; Sec+ or equivalent
  • Previous experience in enterprise level remote desktop support
  • Proficient with Windows desktop services, for example;
    • Win 10 1607 and later
  • Proficient with various VDI related management technologies, for example;
    • Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (previously known as XenDesktop) strongly preferred
    • VMware Horizon View
    • VMware vSphere hypervisor layer
  • Proficient with scripting or programming, for example;
    • Powershell
    • Group Policy
    • Shell scripts
    • Python
    • YAML
  • Proficient with delivering applications to Windows and Linux desktops in multiple ways, for example;
    • Application Virtualization (App-V)
    • ThinApp
    • MSIX
    • XenApp
  • Proficient with delivering user personalization to Windows and Linux desktops, for example;
    • Roaming Profiles
    • FSLogix Profile Containers
    • NFS home directories
    • Centrify integration
  • Able to prioritize multiple concurrent tasking in concert with the team, framework and company levels

Other Qualifications:

  • Strongly Preferred
    • Windows system administration certification
    • Experience performing enterprise scale migrations from legacy to modernized systems and solutions
  • Desired
    • Linux system administration certification, Red Hat strongly preferred
    • Familiarity with Red Hat Satellite systems management
