Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Environmental Engineer for employment in the Buffalo, NY office. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide reliable, flexible engineering services in the field and office.

  • Perform field sampling and other tasks at a variety of sites including hazardous waste sites.

  • Perform engineering design and supporting calculations. Be able to perform basic hydrologic/hydraulic and geotechnical design calculations and develop appropriate details for open channels, stormwater management systems, etc. Be able to develop grading plans.

  • Prepare Site Investigation Work Plans and reports and Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Studies (RI/FS).

  • Conduct research including obtaining vendor quotes to develop detailed cost estimates.

  • Prepare detailed project schedules using Microsoft Project.

  • Prepare cost estimates using existing databases.

  • Provide field sketches and coordinate with GIS and CAD staff to develop figures and drawings.

  • Research innovative remediation technologies and evaluate their suitability to existing projects.

  • Be familiar with the fundamentals of site civil construction work and the means by which basic civil works are constructed.Builds analytic and design skills.

  • Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. citizenship is required

  • Valid State Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Local candidates, preferred

  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time
