ABOUT THIS POSITION This test pilot position supports Air Test and Evaluation Squadron Two Zero (VX-20) C-27J developmental test and evaluation at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), Patuxent River, Maryland. As part of the world’s largest independent flight test organization supporting both US Government and commercial agencies, you will be joining a highly talented and experienced KBR aircrew services team that has provided over 35 continuous years of flight test support to Patuxent River. As a long term incumbent and leader in DoD flight test support, the selected applicant will work within an Integrated Test Team environment composed of government, military, contractor and industry personnel while supporting customer flight test objectives across a diverse range of technical projects. Responsibilities include development of test plans and detailed test procedures, pre-flight mission planning, mission briefing, conducting functional check flights and engineering test flights, evaluation of flight simulator devices, data collection during test flights, post-flight liaison with maintenance and engineering representatives, mission debriefing, drafting post-flight reports/deficiencies and participation in technical meetings. Most work will be conducted on-site at NAS Patuxent River, MD, however, some travel will be required in support of flight test activities. A sign-on bonus and relocation stipend are available to well-qualified applicants.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of six (6) years of work experience is required. An engineering/technical degree is desired, but not required. C-27J experience and two (2) years RDT&E flight experience is desired, but not required. Graduate of one of the following is also a plus: U.S. Naval Test Pilot School (TPS), U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School, Empire Test Pilot School or EPNER Test Pilot School.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of 1500 flight hours with at least 150 hrs in the C-27J or similar multi-engine aircraft is required. Past (required) or current (desired) designation as an Aircraft Commander in any military aircraft is required. Current or former designation as a NATOPS Instructor Pilot is strongly desired. Candidate must be capable of completing the US Navy aviation physiology and water survival qualifications and maintain a FAA Class II annual flight physical. Some travel required.
