KBR has an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer supporting our Army Team in our Aberdeen Proving Ground location.
This role will facilitate Software change requests (SCRs) and software problem reports (SPRs) in addition to software maintenance, emergency releases, and information assurance vulnerability alert (IAVA).
The incumbent will be responsible for providing functional and empirical analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software systems to include:
Supports unit testing of code, including manipulation of data for analysis of system requirements. Other duties as required
A key part of this role is understanding the complete TSP system and how it interacts with other components in the Army architecture to include interfacing with DCGSA and the Grey Eagle platforms.
Develops and applies advanced methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complex and advanced software applications and problems. Plans, conducts and technically directs projects or major phases of significant projects, coordinating the efforts of technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects.
Conducts investigations and tests of considerable complexity. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
Evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services. May provide technical consultation to other organizations and unit leadership.
Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, MIS, Computer Engineering, or Engineering plus eight to ten years of related experience. In lieu of education, additional experience will be accepted, per contract requirements. Contract requirements will prevail.
The incumbent must have a solid background in software engineering to understand the software development cycle since part of this responsibility is working with the program to ensure the software is delivered on time and to specification.
Eight or more years’ software engineering or related experience is required.
Must have proven experience providing functional and empirical analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of software systems, including, but not limited to:
Must have experience participating in the development of test strategies, devices, and systems.
Experience with embedded systems and troubleshooting and debugging application software is required.
An active Secret clearance.
Must have a clear understanding of databases, data modeling and be able to work with developers and provide direction , when necessary.
This role will also consists of some configuration management.
Prefer that the incumbent have a clear understanding of SIGNIT and the relevant CONOP for Aerial SIGNIT processing.
Must be familiar with networking concepts, communications and Information Assurance. Although these are not key specifications for the job as there are other specifics individuals who focus on these, they are key to an overall understanding of the system.
