C-130 Instructor Pilot

The successful candidate for this position will serve as a C-130 Instructor Pilot at Air Test and Evaluation Squadron THREE ZERO (VX-30), Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) on board Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) Point Mugu, CA. Applicant will be required to perform pilot in command duties for VX-30 assigned missions and perform flight instruction, check rides, and functional check flights. Travel will be required and is estimated to be less than 20 hours per month.

Bachelor’s degree is required.


Candidate must possess at least 1500 hours total flight time with a minimum of 10 years of experience and 1000 hours as a Pilot in Command of the C-130 aircraft.


Candidate must possess a current FAA Class II Medical Certificate. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Pilot Certificates with an Instrument rating, Multi Engine Land desired. Current or previous designations should not be older than 24 months at the start date of work. Candidate must be able to successfully complete water survival and aviation physiology training as required by OPNAVINST 3710.7 series.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Knowledge of Department of Defense (DOD) rules and regulations governing aircraft operations, and applicable DCMAINST 8210 series is required.

Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work with an integrated team consisting of military, civil service, and other contractor personnel. Applicant must have the ability to direct aircraft operations planning, scheduling, execution and debriefing in support of collateral tasks within the squadron’s flight program.


Must be willing to submit the appropriate documentation to acquire a DoD Secret Security Clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal security investigation.


Must have US citizenship.
